My self reflection on the discussion of one of our classmate about stress, my
understanding is that stress is not a joke nowadays many people die because of
stress they don’t know how to cope it and the only solution for their mind is
suicide, I know stress affects everything, your mood, appetite and health in total
and your frequent forgetfulness or your decreased productivity at work. After taking
this class I have learned many ways to cope with this and it has been a tremendous
help to me, today, I refuse to stress myself out about things I cannot control or
change. Its okay not to be okay but it will be okay, in every problems that we
encounter there is a solution provided. We don’t need to be stress for the things
that we cannot control we have choices to be choose and its upon us where to
choose. Stress management starts with identifying the sources of the stress in your
life. This isn’t as easy as it sounds. Your true sources of the stress aren’t always
obvious, and its all too easy to overlook your own stress-inducing thoughts,
feelings, and behavior. Life doesn’t get easier by strangling your self with more
stress and stricter rules. You have to give in, give up and so what you can with
where you’re at.
My Self Reflection o n Power

My self reflection on the topic about Power is that power is not separate from responsibility –
power is the possession of responsibility and the ability to influence others.Influence is the
process of affecting the thoughts, behavior, and feelings of others. Authority is the right to
influence others. French and Raven's five forms of interpersonal power are reward, coercive,
legitimate, referent, and expert power. Information power is another form of interpersonal
power.T he key to using all of these types of power well is to use them ethically. McClelland
believes personal power is negative and social power is positive. Intergroup power sources
include control of critical resources and strategic contingencies. According to Etzioni's power
analysis, the characteristics of the organization are an important factor in deciding the type of
power to use. Recognizing symbols of both power and powerlessness is a key diagnostic skill for
managers. Organizational politics is an inevitable feature of work life. Political behavior consists
of actions not officially sanctioned that are taken to influence others in order to meet personal
goals. Managers should take a proactive role in managing politics. The employee–boss
relationship is an important political relationship. Employees can use their skills to develop more
effective working relationships with their bosses. Empowerment is a positive strategy for sharing
power throughout the organization.
