Can Humanity Get Rid of Technology and Continue Developing?

Technology has indeed made us less human. I do agree with this statement. What is technology?
Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of
organization in order to provide means of solution. The term ‘Technology’ is derived from the Greek
word “ Technologia”. “Techne” means “craft” and “logia” means “the study of something”. In this
modern world today, the technology is being improved from time to time. We "interact" with
technologies on a daily basis. Over the years, technologies have been invented to address society's
problems or to fulfil its growing desire for speed and convenience.
Firstly, the benefit of technology in the healthcare has made the world a better place to live. Medical
research has led to the end of many diseases and ailments, and also to the discovery of many drugs
and medications that have helped prevent many lethal diseases and disorders. The technology is
playing a vital role in the healthcare by creating communication between patients and doctors
easier, more personal, more flexible and more sensitive. For an example, doctors can easily send the
names of the medicines through e-mail to their patients. Personal records of patients are
maintained, which makes it easier to study symptoms and carry out diagnosis of previously
unexplainable conditions. Moreover, as a positive effect of technology on healthcare, costs of
medical procedures and operations have fallen dramatically over the decades. Also, Surgeons who
use robotic systems find that for many procedures it enhances precision, flexibility and control
during the operation and allows them to better see the site, compared with traditional techniques.
Secondly, it is no surprise that the benefits of technology in the classroom and the benefits of
technology in schools have opened up a whole new learning environment. Especially, the usage of
the Internet in the field of education has given more benefits. Knowledge can be easily procured
with the help of the Internet technology now, and it is easier to help children with special needs as
well. E- learning and online education have made it very simple and systematic for an individual to
receive personal attention, so that all his or her specific needs are fulfilled. By the way, immediate
response to queries and tests have made the whole education process a lot faster. By usage of
technology in the education field also, distance learning has become much easier, and this has led to
a rise in the number of people who receive education. In addition, advanced technology developed
by some of the best scientists and researchers in the world have totally changed the way businesses
function. Machines have helped product manufacturing companies to produce quality products at
low-cost and in huge quantities. This has increased their total turnover and the profit margins.
Developments of technology in communication and telecoms sector have helped business houses
stay connected at any given time. Thus, it is increasing their efficiency to a great extent.
Lastly, the strongest benefit that proves that the technology has made the world a better place to
live is the benefit of technology in the field of communication. The communication industry has
witnessed a huge growth by the development of technology. Social networking and blogging have
opened up a whole new world to people from remote locations, and the reach of the mass media
has increased thousand-fold. Moreover, people can communicate with each other on the move, and
there are no limitations anymore to the benefits of information technology. Technology in the field
of communication has made the world become a smaller place, since no one is out of reach
anymore. The mode of talking has become more personalized and can be done from just about
anywhere by the aid of technology. Information and news broadcasting have become more
personalized as well. Moreover, it can reach more people at a faster speed, and people’s response
can also be felt immediately.
To sum up, the benefits of technology in the field of healthcare, education, business and
communication have made the world a better place to live. All of these benefits of technology are
there for everyone to see. But there are also many things wrong about technology like copyrited
material, the distraction it produces and so much more. Therefore, to enjoy the benefits of
technology, we need to use the technology in a right way and right manner. Even though there are
certain repercussions and negative impacts of technology as well, nobody can say that technology
has not aided society on a whole. If every one of us uses the technology rightly surely the world will
be a better place to live by the aid of technology. I wouldn’t even be writing this essay without
technology it just goes to show how useful technology has been to mankind.
