ASSIGNMENT # 01
NAME: IQRA TANOLI
ROLL NO:13
DEPARTMENT: BIOTECHNOLOGY
SUBJECT: COMPUTER SCIENCE
.Write brief answers:
Q1. What should you consider when choosing any network topology?
Ans: When you are considering a network topology to implement, there
are a number of factors that come into play. These factors include:
A.Current hardware
B. Size of the network
C. Budget limitations
D. Need for reliability
E. If network expansion is likley to be required
Q2. Which of the following network topologies contains a backbone
which runs the length of the network?
Ans: The network topology which contains a backbone that runs the
length of the network is called a bus topology. A bus topology is
a topology for a Local Area Network (LAN) in which all the nodes
are connected to a single cable. The cable to which the nodes connect
is called a "backbone.
Q3. What piece of hardware is usually at the centre of a star network?
Ans. In a star network, every host is connected to a hardware “central
hub”. In a Star topology, the central hub is the host computer, acts as
a server and the peripheral devices act as clients. The center of a star
network is a good place to diagnose network faults and if one
computer fails whole network is not disturbed.
Q4. What would happen to the entire network if one of the nodes in
the bus-wired network failed?
Ans: In the bus-wired network, if one of the nodes failed all nodes
may be affected as all nodes share the same cable for the sending and
receiving of information.
Q5: What are the main advantages of a star network?
Ans: There are mainy advantages of star network such as
1- Easy to manage and maintain the network because each node
require separate cable. If one connection fails, it does not affect
others.
2- Due to Hub device network control and management is much
easier.
3- It has good performance as it gives high speed of data transfer.
