Amarnath Keezhadi Excavation p1 PDF

This document summarizes the aims and objectives of an archaeological excavation conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India in the Vaigai River valley region of Tamil Nadu. It notes that while some limited earlier excavations were conducted, no major systematic excavation had been done to understand the full antiquity of the region. The current excavation explored and documented over 293 archaeological sites, including 170 newly discovered sites along the river valley. Several important habitation, burial, and artifact sites from different periods are highlighted that provide new insights into the long history of human settlement and activity in the Vaigai River valley region.
