Letter From CA Gaming Association To Governor Gavin Newsom

The California Gaming Association president wrote a letter to the Governor of California requesting consistency in casino closure orders. The letter notes that while cardrooms in targeted counties with high COVID-19 rates have been ordered closed, tribal casinos in those same counties remain open. It argues the Governor has the authority based on tribal gaming compacts to require ALL casinos, including tribal casinos, to close in the affected counties if gambling facilities pose a risk to public health and safety. The letter expresses hope for reduced infections and looks forward to cooperating on reopening plans when circumstances allow.

The California Gaming Association supports state and local efforts to combat the spread
