Tighten bolts in the following stages:

1. 1-20 = 5 Nm
2. 21-23 = 15 Nm + 90°
→ VIN 8K-9-066499: Use new bolts.
VIN 8K-9-066500→: Re-use bolts only once. Mark bolt heads with a cross using a chisel.
3. 1-7 = 13 Nm
4. 9 and 10 = 13 Nm
5. 12-20 = 13 Nm
6. 8 and 11 = 23 Nm

Wait 30 minutes before lling engine with oil to allow sealant to dry.

Flywheel/driveplate    

Use new bolts.

Driveplate to engine = 60 Nm + 90°
Torque converter/clutch module to driveplate = 60 Nm

Clutch pressure plate   22 Nm+90°

Crankshaft pulley/damper centre bolt   180 Nm+90°+45°

Use new bolts.

Crankshaft pulley/damper bolts   10 Nm+90°

B = 100 Nm

Camshaft carrier/cap    

Fit camshaft to camshaft carrier and secure in TDC position to ensure correct valve timing is achieved during assembly. Special tools
required.

Apply a 2,0-3,0 mm diameter bead of sealant to mating surface of cylinder head g133223.A.

Assemble components within 5 minutes. Excess sealant can cause engine damage.

Tighten bolts in sequence in the following stages g127415:

1. 5 Nm
2. 10 Nm

Wait 30 minutes before starting engine to allow sealant to dry.

Use new bolts.

Inlet manifold to cylinder head   8 Nm

Exhaust manifold to cylinder head   25 Nm

Use new nuts/bolts coated with high temperature lubricant.

Exhaust downpipe to manifold   23 Nm

Use new nuts/bolts coated with high temperature lubricant.

Water pump   15 Nm
Injector/clamp    

Use new bolts.

Tighten bolts in the following stages:

2 Nm
Finger-tighten injector pipe unions and align injectors.
8 Nm + 180°

Injectors, injector pipes and clamps must always be re tted to the same cylinder.

Injector pipe unions   25 Nm

Fuel/injection pump mounting    

Use new bolts.

Short bolt = 20 Nm + 45°
Long bolt = 20 Nm + 180°

Glow plugs   17 Nm
Crankshaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM)   5 Nm

Camshaft position (CMP) sensor   9 Nm
Engine oil pressure switch   20 Nm

Use new bolt.
Tighten to 200 Nm with wheels off the ground.
Lower car to the ground and tighten a further 180°.

Front hub - wheel bearing housing bolts   80 Nm+90°

Use new bolts.

Rear hub    

Use new bolt.

Tighten to 200 Nm with wheels off the ground.
Lower car to the ground and tighten a further 180°.

Rear hub - wheel bearing housing bolts   80 Nm+90°

Use new bolts.

Steering wheel   30 Nm+90°

Use new bolts.

Steering rack/box mounting   80 Nm+180°

Use new bolts.

Steering track rod end    

Use new nuts.

Electromechanical power steering = 100 Nm
Hydraulic power steering:
Hexagonal ange nut = 20 Nm + 90° g134291.A
12 point nut = 100 Nm g134291.B
Hexagonal nut with washer = 110 Nm g134291.C

Bolts without conical washer

Lightly grease thread and conical seat.

Bolts with conical washer

Lightly grease thread and contact surfaces between bolt head and washer (use copper anti-seize grease).
Do NOT grease conical seat.
Lightly coat mating surfaces between wheel centre hole and hub (use spray wax).
