On Monday, July 13, Ronnie Eli Dean (28) was arrested in Franklin County on a Gulf
County warrant for Petit Theft. Dean’s arrest was the result of an investigation by
Investigator J. Murnan, which began on February 4, 2020. Dean accepted a roofing job
in St. Joe and accepted a deposit without performing any work. After failing to return
the deposit to the victim, criminal charges were filed.
On Monday, July 13, Deputy S. Alday arrested John Whitehurst (59) for operating a
motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop
on Lake Grove Road in Wewahitchka. Whitehurst, who has three prior convictions for
DWLS/R and one pending DWLS/R charge, stated he was driving to the store to get
cigarettes. Due to his prior convictions, Whitehurst was charged with Felony DWLS/R.
On Monday, July 13, Deputy B. McCorvey conducted a traffic stop on CR 381 near the
intersection of Honey Hill Road. During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy M. Peek
deployed K-9 Brix to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle. Brix alerted, providing
probable cause to search the vehicle. A search revealed a digital scale with
methamphetamine residue on it, a cut straw with methamphetamine residue and a
syringe containing fluid that tested positive for methamphetamine. The driver of the
vehicle, identified as Wanda Lois Causey (36), was arrested and charged with Possession
of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Tuesday, July 14, Deputy Sheline responded to a report of a physical altercation on
West River Road in Wewahitchka. David Warren Jamerson (41) was arrested and
charged with Battery after attacking another man who was walking along the road. The
attack stemmed from an altercation the men had earlier in the day.
On Wednesday, July 15, Deputy J. Page responded to a report of a physical altercation at
a residence on Hwy 22. Raymond Bernard Scott (49) was arresting after attacking
another man. Scott struck the man several times in the head and kicked the man while
he was on the ground. The victim was transported to an area hospital to be treated for

his wounds. Scott was transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility and charged
with Aggravated Battery.
On Saturday, July 18, Deputy B. McCorvey conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle on
Honey Hill Road in Wewahitchka. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Scotty Lee
Herrell (48), drove the motorcycle behind a shed of a residence and stopped. Harrell
was taken into custody for driving with a suspended driver’s license. Harrell was in
possession of glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine, syringes and two small
containers containing methamphetamine residue. Harrell was charged with Possession
of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony DWLS/R, Driving with
No Motor Cycle Endorsement and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle.
