Lawyers League v. Aquino

The Supreme Court dismissed petitions challenging the legitimacy of President Corazon Aquino's government on the grounds that her administration was not established according to the 1973 Constitution. The Court ruled that the legitimacy of Aquino's government was a non-justiciable political question that only the Filipino people could judge. It noted that the people had accepted Aquino's government as the de facto and de jure ruling authority, and that other countries had recognized its legitimacy as well. All 11 SC justices had also sworn to uphold the fundamental law under Aquino's administration. Therefore, the petitions were dismissed.
