HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Slide 1 (cover page)

Hi good morning one and all. Today we team of 3 members are here to share a few minutes
discussion on HRM. I am Bhuvan and my team mates are Tarak and Abdul and my supervisor is
Gopi krishna.

Slide # 2 (purpose)
. The main purpose of this presentation is to understand the crucial role of utilizing human work
force to peak level to attain maximum output from each individual in a organisation.

Slide # 3 (index)
. These are the topics of HRM today we are trying to cover.

Slide 4 (HRM)
HRM is defined as a study which tells us about a project to plan and organise, directing and
controlling of procuring functions to develop and maintain the organization to utilize the man
power to maximize the better outcome in project.

Slide 5 (Flow chart for HRM)

This chart shows the HRM process such as Recruitment, Selection, Training, Assessing
performances, motivating, compensating while maintaining labor relations with safety& welfare
of employees. This flow chart shows the detailed step by step procedure of HRM process.

Slide 6 (Maslow Theory)

Maslow theory is also called as a motivational theory. This theory basically explains the needs
of humans in a detailed five-tier model. It is often represented as a pyramid structure with
hierarchical level. To accomplish the 5th need we need to satisfy all the 4 needs first.
From here my Friend Tarak is going to continue.

Slide 7 (Needs in Maslow theory & major factors)

Needs:
1) First four needs comes under Deficiency needs and fifth one comes under growth needs
2) Deficiency needs called as D- needs. These arise due to dispossession. Whereas needs of
growth arise from a person’s desire to grow.
First four needs are Safety, Esteem, belonging; Physiological fifth need which is most important
is Self-actualization.
Physiological: it depends on biological essentials for human survival, e.g. food, shelter, air,
drink, clothing, warmth etc
Safety: It involves fear, stability, law, and order.
Belonging: It entangles solicitude of belongingness. Examples: intimacy, trust and acceptance
Esteem: It involves esteem for oneself and recognition from others
Self-actualization: Appreciation of personal potential, growth and peak experiences.

Slide 8 (Herzberg’s Theory)

Frederick is one of the original thinkers on motivational and management topics.
He decided to find out effect of attitude just by asking people how they felt when they were
happy and sad about their jobs. The responses were very different when compared to sad and
happy attitudes.
Job satisfaction:-when Motivator factors increases then it is called as job satisfaction
Job dissatisfaction: - when Hygiene factor improves then it decreases job dissatisfaction.
Slide 9 (2 Major factors in Herzberg’s theory)
Hygiene factor: - it represents to provide more noticeable basic needs such as needs which are
in lower level of Maslow's theory.
Motivator factor: - it represents to provide less noticeable needs and more emotional needs.
This role plays as a vital role in Maslow's theory.

Slide 10 (McClelland’s Acquire-Needs Theory)

David mcclelland come up with a theory where individual acquires specific essentials over time
and exposure. In a job these needs can influence a person’s inspiration and effectiveness.
Achievement: people to achieve some success they likely to confront low risk and high-risk
situations. As low risk has a simple attained success and high risk has a outcome where there is
a possibility rather than one’s attempt.
Affiliation: people who want to achieve affiliation they should have balanced relationships with
other people and necessary to feel gained by others
Power: Here person need power for personal and institutional purposes.
From here my Friend Abdul is going to continue.

Slide 11 (McGregor Theory X and Y)

It is proposed by Douglas McGregor.
Theory X depends on doctorial style of organization where the managers must give order and
keep an eye on employees.
Theory Y: depends on Participative style of organization where the managers think the
employees are self administered and self motivated.

Slide 12 (Ouchy's theory z)

Ouchy proposed the theory in 1981.
The benefits of theory Z can reduce Employee turnover,
Increase commitment,
Improve morale and job satisfaction & drastic.
Productivity increases.
Theory Z stresses on helping workers to become generalists.

Slide 13 (Ouchy's theory z (continuation))

Theory Z helps to make employees more loyal, dedicated and permanent in workforce.
This in turn benefits the company.

Slide 14 (Conclusion)
Human Resource management is a process that involves recruiting, training, selection of
employees to work in an organization as a whole. The Maslow’s depends upon five needs.
Motivation is a key factor to improve the performance of employees.
