1 Precautions
1.1 Precautions 1
The target version is LLD-L21 8.0.0.125(C185). After reading the feature description of the version
carefully, excise caution when performing upgrade.
Software version requirements
Ensure that your phone uses Huawei official source version. If your phone has been upgraded to
a non-official version, upgrade may fail and unknown issues may be introduced.
Do not attempt to use customized versions for other countries. Otherwise, upgrade may fail and
unknown issues may be introduced.
Hardware version requirements
Software applies only to HONOR LLD-L21 phones. If the upgrade is performed on other phone
of other models, a power-on failure may occur.
Huawei's in-warranty maintenance is not applicable to faults caused by violations of the preceding
precautions.
1.2 Precautions 2
All user data may be erased during upgrade. If there is important data, you are advised to back up
your data before the upgrade.
During the upgrade, ensure that the battery level is higher than 30%.
2 Version Requirements
2.1 Historical Version Information Table
The version listed in the following table can be upgraded to the target version.
Version
LLD-L21 8.0.0.124(C185) and below.
2.2 Upgrade Environment
The upgrade environment is applicable to HONOR LLD-L21 phones. You need to perform the
upgrade using a microSD card.

3 Preparing for the Upgrade
3.1 Verifying the Upgrade Environment
Verify that the microSD card is readable and writable and the available space of the microSD card is
greater than 8 GB. A microSD card of SanDisk, Kingstone, or KINGMAX is recommended.
3.2 Verifying Software Upgrade Packages
Verify software upgrade packages. The table in section 2.3"Upgrade Preparation List" describes the
corresponding packages.
You can view the following directory structures (pay attention to the integrity of the directories):

Upgrade description
There are two upgrade modes: normal upgrade and forcible upgrade.
Normal upgrade is applicable to the scenario where users upgrade the version or other scenarios
required.
Forcible upgrade is applicable to the scenario where a power-on failure to be rectified occurs or
other scenarios required.
4 Procedure
4.1 Performing Normal Upgrade Using a microSD Card
Step 1 Prepare a microSD card that has available space of at least 8 GB (a microSD card of SanDisk,
Kingstone, or KINGMAX is recommended).
Step 2 (Optional) Format the microSD card.
Step 3 Enter the dialer from the home screen, enter *#*#2846579#*#* to access the ProjectMenu menu,
choose Network Information Query > Vendor Country Info, and verify that the country and
carrier information matches that in the vendor package in section 3.2"Verifying Software Upgrade
Packages", as shown in the following LLDure.
If the information is unmatched, perform the following operations:
1. Copy the UPDATE.APP package corresponding to trial production in the Vendor directory to
the microSD card root directory dload.
2. Insert the microSD card, power on the phone, enter the dialer from the home screen, enter
*#*#2846579#*#* to access the ProjectMenu menu, choose Software Upgrade > SDCard
Upgrade, and touch OK.
The phone restarts and upgrades the vendor package.
3. After the upgrade is complete and upon phone restart, access the ProjectMenu menu again, and
verify the information about the carrier and country.
Step 4 Verify the integrity of the dload directory, copy the content in the dload directory to the microSD
card root directory dload, and delete the UPDATE.APP package.
Step 5 Verify the integrity of the microSD card root directory. For details, see section 3.2"Verifying
Software Upgrade Packages."
Step 6 Insert the microSD card, power on the phone, enter *#*#2846579#*#* to access the ProjectMenu
menu, choose Software Upgrade > SDCard Upgrade, and touch OK.
The phone enters the upgrade mode after restart (the main package and customized package are
upgraded together). The upgrade progress is displayed during the upgrade. The phone automatically
restarts after the upgrade is complete (the following LLD ures are for reference only).
4.2 Performing Forcible Upgrade Using a microSD Card
Step 1 Prepare a microSD card that has available space of at least 8 GB (a microSD card of SanDisk,
Kingstone, or KINGMAX is recommended).
Step 2 (Optional) Format the microSD card.
Step 3 Enter the dialer from the home screen, enter *#*#2846579#*#* to access the ProjectMenu menu,
choose Network Information Query > Vendor Country Info, and verify that the country and
carrier information matches that in the vendor package in section 3.2"Verifying Software Upgrade
Packages", as shown in the following LLDure.
If the information is unmatched, perform the following operations:

power buttons simultaneously for the phone to automatically enter the upgrade mode and perform the
upgrade (the following LLDures are for reference only).
The upgrade progress is displayed during the upgrade. The phone automatically restarts after the
upgrade is complete (the following LLDures are for reference only).
5 Verification and Troubleshooting
5.1 Verifying the Version
Power on the phone, choose Settings > System > About phone, and verify the version number.

Note: The detailed information may vary by phone.
5.2 Traversing Basic Functions
Step 1 Properly power on the phone, enter the standby screen, enter a phone number, and verify that the call
is successful. Press and hold the power button to power off the phone, and verify that the phone is
powered off properly.
Step 2 Traverse all APKs and verify that all APKs are normal.
5.3 Performing Troubleshooting
If the upgrade still fails after you strictly follow the procedure and do not violate any precautions,
send the phone to your nearest local maintenance center. For details about maintenance center
