SW 409 Scheduled Waste Management Guide

This document provides information on disposing of empty chemical containers (SW 409) from Crescent Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd. It describes the waste as solid, non-soluble, non-volatile chemicals that are heavier than water and non-flammable. Exposure can cause toxicity through inhalation, oral intake, and dermal contact. Proper handling requires protective equipment, spill prevention, toxic substance labeling, and recommended disposal through retreatment or recycling instead of dumping. In the event of exposure, first aid procedures are outlined to remove the victim from the area and seek medical care. Steps are also described for responding to spills or fires to avoid environmental impacts.

C Precautions In Case Of Spill Or Accidental Discharge Causing Personal Injury:
1. In case of inhalation of fumes or :
Symptoms of intoxication may be sweat, tear and saliva flux, small
oral intake pupils, stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhoea, difficulties in
Breathing, cramps, weakness and unconsciousness. By inhalation of
fumes, remove the victim into fresh air. By oral intake give plenty of water
and make the person vomit after every intake of water. Do not give
unconscious persons water or make them vomit. If the victim is not
breathing, apply artificial respiration, do not use mouth-to-mouth method.
Effects of exposure to waste may be delayed, keep the victim under
observation for at least 24 hours.
2. In case of dermal contact or eyes : Symptoms of intoxication may be the same as for inhalation and dermal
contact, plus contraction of the pupils, eye pains and visual disturbances,
stings and eye flux. Contaminated clothes etc. Must be removed
immediately. If contamination of skin or eyes occurs, flush with plenty of
water. Always seek medical care in case of injury to the eyes.
D Steps To Be Taken In Case Of Spill Or Accident Discharge Causing Material Damage Arising From
1. Spill on floor, soil, road etc : As per EQSWR (scheduled waste) regulation,2005)
2. Spill into water : As per EQSWR (scheduled waste) regulation,2005)
3. Fire : Appropriate action avoid impact to environment
