VMware Horizon Editions

Horizon is a family of desktop and applications virtualization solutions designed to deliver

Windows and online services from any cloud. With Horizon, VMware extends the power of
virtualization — from data centers to devices —to deliver desktop and application virtualization
with great user experience, closed-loop manageability and hybrid-cloud flexibility.

VMware Horizon is available in 3 editions: View Standard, Advanced, and Enterprise. All three
editions include all components needed for an end-to end virtual desktop deployment.

(defined in the VMware EULA as a “Powered on Desktop VM receiving a connection”)
• Horizon Advanced is available as concurrent user and named user. Horizon Advanced
Concurrent its components are licensed per concurrent connection. Horizon Advanced
Named user and its components are licensed by named users.
• Horizon Enterprise is available as concurrent user and named user. Horizon Enterprise
concurrent user and its components are licensed per concurrent connection. Horizon
Enterprise Named user and its components are licensed by named users.
• vSphere Desktop included in Horizon Editions has the same features and functionality of
vSphere Enterprise Plus
• All editions are available in quantities of 10 or 100 licenses.

Horizon View Standard Add-on

• Horizon View Standard Add-On only includes desktop components and customers must
already have vSphere in their environment or purchase vSphere Desktop separately.
• Horizon View Standard Add-On is only available to the Standard Edition. Horizon
Advanced and Horizon Enterprise do not have an Add-on package.

VMware Mirage

VMware® Mirage™ is a centralized desktop management solution that’s locally executed on the PC
or desktop. Mirage uses layered images that separate the PC into logical layers which facilitate
better image management, disaster recovery, and migrations for IT while maintaining end-user
personalization.

Mirage

• Mirage contains Mirage Image Management, Fusion Professional and ThinApp.

• Mirage and its components are licensed by per named user.
• Available in quantities of 10 or 100 licenses.

Mirage Windows Migration

• Mirage Windows Migration is a 6 month term license that can only be used for Windows
Migration, for example from Windows XP to Windows 7 or 8.
• Horizon Windows Migration is licensed by per device.
• Minimum purchase of 10 licenses is required. Please purchase in multiples of 10.

End of Availability (EOA) Products

VMware has announced the end of availability (“EOA”) of VMware® Horizon™ Suite, effective on
April 30th, 2014. No further orders for VMware Horizon Suite will be accepted after this date. Each
product component (Horizon View, Workspace, Mirage, ThinApp) of the Horizon Suite will
continue to be supported per their individual lifecycle policies. Horizon Suite customers will be
entitled to Horizon Enterprise in July 2014.

Upgrades

Product Version Upgrades (entitled)

Existing customers with current Subscription and Support (SnS) contracts are entitled to the next
product version. For example, customers with Horizon View 5.0 and current on SnS are able to
upgrade to Horizon View 5.3. Customers with a lapsed SnS contract must contact VMware
Support before upgrading. The value of any unused SnS for existing products will be preserved
through an SnS extension.

Product Edition and Packages Upgrades (paid)

Upgrade paths for between VMware End-User Computing products and editions are shown in the
figure below. Each column represents a step or SKU needed for that particular upgrade.

Horizon Suite customers will be entitled to Horizon Enterprise in July 2014.
