FACULTY RECRUITMENT
Applications in prescribed format for filling the Institute created posts of "Full time
Associate Professor / Assistant Professor / Adjunct Faulty" in various Engineering,
Management and other disciplines on adhoc basis for 11 months are invited from the
eligible candidates. Detailed advertisement mentioning number of posts, reservation,
age limit, qualification, selection procedure, prescribed application form and terms and
conditions are displayed on the institute web site www.coep.org.in under “Recruitment”
tab.
All interested candidates are requested to visit the web site for details and submit online
application form on or before 23.06.2020 up to 5.00 pm along with online application fee
of Rs.1,000 (Rs. 500 for Backward class and Specially enabled candidates), bank
details are provided in this notification.

RECRUITMENT FOR THE POSTS OF ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ASSISTANT
PROFESSOR/ADJUNCT FACULTY
College of Engineering Pune established in 1854, is a legacy of 165 years. It is an
autonomous institute of Government of Maharashtra and is constantly ranked within 50
engineering institutions of the country by various surveys and NIRF ranking. Online
applications in prescribed format are invited from dynamic, eligible candidates with passion
towards academics and research to work as Full-time Associate Professor / Full-time
Assistant Professor and Adjunct Faculty on adhoc basis, for a period of 11 months to
engage academic load for 2020-21 in various Engineering, Management and other
disciplines.
A. Number of Posts:
Please refer to Annexure - 1 for Associate Professor and Annexure - 2 for
Assistant Professor given below.
B. Qualifications for the post of Full Time Associate Professor:
Engineering / Technology:
Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class / 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale
/ equivalent at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant branch
AND
At least total 6 research publications in SCI journals / UGC / AICTE approved list
of journals.
AND
Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching / research / industry out of which at
least 2 years shall be Post Ph.D. experience
Candidates with post-doctoral fellowship/Post Ph.D. publications and experience
of guiding Ph.D. student are highly desirable.
The major discipline and the relevant / appropriate disciplines are as notified in
the AICTE notification F.No.27/RIFD/Pay/01/2017-18 dated 28th April 2017 and
will be made applicable to posts advertised by the institute.
Age Limit: 50 years (The age limit in case of backward class and specially
enabled candidates is relaxed by 5 years for Associate Professor).
Candidates who do not fit into prescribed age limit can be considered for
the position of Adjunct Faculty.

Management:
Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and First class / 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point
scale / equivalent at both Bachelor’s in Engineering / Technology and MBA /
PGDM. Candidates with only Bachelor’s in Engineering / Technology are
eligible.

10 point scale or equivalent both at B.Sc. AND M.Sc. in the relevant
branches.
AND
Ph.D. [in accordance with the University Grants Commission Notification No.
F.1-2/2017(EC/PS) Dated 18th July, 2018 and UGC guidelines issued from
time to time] OR equivalent in appropriate discipline.
AND
Minimum of 8 years of teaching experience at the post of Assistant Professor
in technical Institutions / research / industry of which at least 2 years post
Ph.D. is desirable.
AND
Minimum of seven publications in the peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
Post Ph.D. publications and guiding Ph.D. students is highly desirable.
Age Limit: 50 years (The age limit in case of backward class and specially
enabled candidates is relaxed by 5 years for Associate Professor).

Humanities: English, Psychology
B.A. & M.A. in relevant subject with First class OR with CGPA of 6.75 on a 10

Selected candidates for the post of Associate Professor will be paid with Pay Band
37400-67000, AGP- 9000/-. The tenure will be strictly for 11 months. The selected
candidates shall be offered appointment by the BoG of COEP on adhoc basis.
C. Qualifications for the post of Full Time Assistant Professor:
Engineering / Technology:
PhD in appropriate discipline with minimum First class or 6.75 CGPA on a 10
point scale both at Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant branch.
Candidates with post-doctoral fellowship, good academic record, relevant
experience is highly desirable.
The major discipline and the relevant / appropriate disciplines are as notified in
the AICTE notification F.No.27/RIFD/Pay/01/2017-18 dated 28th April 2017 and

Eligibility conditions for the post of Adjunct Faculty have been stated in
the section D (iv) given below.
Selected candidates for the post of Assistant Professor will be paid Pay Band
15600-39100, AGP- 6000/-. The tenure will be strictly for 11 months. The selected
candidates shall be offered appointment by the BoG of COEP on adhoc basis.
D. Qualifications for the post of Adjunct Faculty:
(i) For “Engineering/Technology” programs: In case sufficient PhD. candidates
for a discipline are not available or they are not within the prescribed age limit,
then candidates with M.E./ M.Tech qualification in relevant discipline with
minimum First Class or with CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale, in
respective discipline and having minimum 2 years of teaching /industrial
/research experience (as on the date of interview) will be considered for
interview. Candidates with qualifying GATE score will be given preference.
However, such candidates on selection will be given an appointment as
ADJUNCT Faculty for 11 months on adhoc basis. Candidates having ME or
M.Tech. qualification will be paid consolidated pay of Rs. 60,000/- per
month. Candidates having Ph.D. qualification will be paid consolidated pay
of Rs. 70,000/- per month.

(ii) For “Planning” Program: In case sufficient PhD. candidates are not available or
they are not within the prescribed age limit, then candidates both UG and PG in
appropriate discipline with minimum First Class or with CGPA of 6.75 on a
10 point scale in respective discipline and having minimum 2 years of teaching
/industrial /research experience (as on the date of interview) will be considered
for interview. The GATE qualifying score is not essential for candidates applying
for Planning program but it is desirable. Candidates with qualifying GATE score
will be given preference.
However, such candidates on selection will be given an appointment as
ADJUNCT Faculty for 11 months on adhoc basis. Candidates having
M.Plan./ME/M.Tech. qualification in relevant branch will be paid
consolidated pay of Rs. 60,000/- per month. Candidates having Ph.D.
qualification will be paid consolidated pay of Rs. 70,000/- per month.
(iii) For “Management” Programs: Candidates with only Bachelor’s in Engineering /
Technology are eligible. In case sufficient PhD. candidates for a discipline are not
available or they are not within the prescribed age limit, then candidates with
MBA/PGDM qualification in relevant discipline with minimum First Class or with
CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale, in respective discipline at both bachelors and
masters levels and having minimum 2 years of teaching /industrial /research
experience (as on the date of interview) will be considered for interview.
Candidates with only Bachelor’s in Engineering / Technology are eligible.
Candidates with qualifying CAT/MCAT score will be given preference.
However, such candidates on selection will be given an appointment as
ADJUNCT Faculty for 11 months on adhoc basis. Candidates having
MBA/PGDM qualification will be paid consolidated pay of Rs. 60,000/- per
month. Candidates having Ph.D. qualification will be paid consolidated pay
of Rs. 70,000/- per month.
(iv) For Basic Sciences, Humanities Disciplines if sufficient PhD candidates within
the prescribed age limit are not available, then such candidates with graduate
and post graduate qualifications in respective disciplines with a minimum First
Class or with CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale at both levels and having
minimum 2 years of teaching/industrial/research experience can be considered
for Adjunct Faculty position, provided they are within 55 years of age and
either posses Ph.D degree [in accordance with the University Grants
Commission Notification No. F.1-2/2017(EC/PS) dated 18th July, 2018 and UGC
guidelines issued from time to time] or are NET/SET qualified.
However, such candidates on selection will be given an appointment as
ADJUNCT Faculty for 11 months on adhoc basis. Candidates having M.Sc./
M.A. with NET/SET qualification will be paid consolidated pay of Rs.
60,000/- per month. Candidates having Ph.D. qualification will be paid
consolidated pay of Rs. 70,000/- per month.
For all Adjunct Faculty positions, age of the applicant must be below 55 years
on the last date of submission of the application for the post of Adjunct
Faculty.

Note:- a) If class / division is not awarded, minimum of 60% marks in aggregate will be
considered equivalent to first class / division. If grade point system is adopted
the CGPA will be converted into equivalent marks as per AICTE norms.
Qualification will be considered as on 23.06.2020.
b) Equivalence in educational qualifications for graduate and post-graduate
degree as made relevant for recruitment in technical Institutions by the
Government of Maharashtra, vide its GR. No. 2013/(45/13)/TE.Ed.-2
dated 23/05/2014, will be made applicable to posts advertised by the
institute.
c) Above mentioned criteria for eligibility / qualification / Experience are
minimum and indicative and can be raised to next level of stringency by
the Institute.
E. Application Form:
Candidate must apply in the prescribed ONLINE form displayed on the institute
website "www.coep.org.in" under “Recruitment” tab.
1. A single PDF file with size limit of 40 MB is to be created including the passport
size digital photograph of the candidate, scanned certificates/documents related
to qualifications, professional experience and achievements. This created file is
required to be uploaded online. After submission of the application form,
candidate will receive the acknowledgement receipt which will be saved /printed
for future correspondence.
2. The last date for the receipt of the ONLINE application form is 23rd June 2020
till 5:00 p.m.
3. The candidate will submit online form, upload the single PDF file including the all
necessary scanned copies of documents/certificates and pay online application
fee. The application fee for Open Category candidates is Rs. 1000/- and for
Reserved Category candidates is Rs. 500/-.

Candidates are required to provide in online form the details of fee payment
such as UTR number, amount paid and date of transaction. Applications of the
candidates not making the online payment of application fee and not
providing its UTR details will be treated as INCOMPLETE and will not be
accepted and will not be considered as submitted for further processing.
4. Candidates must also bring all relevant original certificates/documents along with
photo ID proof for verification at the time of interview. The hard copies of duly
filled in application with signature and self-attested photograph pasted on it
along with all required self-attested copies of the certificates/documents will have
to be submitted at the time of written test/presentation to the college authority.

F. Selection Procedure
a) Associate Professor: There will be no written test; however candidate will be
shortlisted as per criteria of the institute. The shortlisted candidates will make
presentation and will be interviewed as stated below [C (i), (ii) and (iii)].
b) Assistant Professor / Adjunct Faculty:
Written test of 100 Marks will be conducted for short listing of
candidates if the number of applications received is too large.
The test paper will be objective type based on GATE/CAT/CMAT syllabus
for respective branch / subject.
c) For all posts (Associate Professor / Full-time Assistant Professor and
Adjunct Faculty):
i. Presentation (20 Marks)
Subject knowledge and presentation skills.
ii. Interview (50 Marks)
Personal interview in front of selection committee.
iii. Final Selection
Final selection will be on 100 marks (Qualification and experience 30
marks + presentation 20 marks + interview 50 marks)
Note: For presentation and final interview, candidates will be called in the
ratio of 1:6 as per their merit in written test or otherwise.
G. Other terms and conditions
Services shall stand automatically terminated at the end of the contract period
and also in between; if performance of the selected candidate is not
satisfactory on review after every quarter of service.
Reserved category candidate must attach caste and caste validity certificate
issued by the competent authority, along with the application. Candidates
belonging to V.J. (A), N.T. (B), N.T.(C), N.T.(D), O.B.C., S.B.C., S.E.B.C.
category must attach valid non-creamy layer certificate issued by the
competent authority for considering the application on reserved post in
addition to caste and caste validity certificate. Reservation for lady candidates
is shown in Annexure -1 and Annexure -2.
Candidates belonging to EWS category must attach valid income certificate
issued by the competent authority for considering the application on reserved
post.
Specially Enabled candidate must attach handicap certificate from competent
authority with not less than 40% disability.
For Associate Professor, candidate on sabbatical leave will be considered, if
permitted by their employer.
Mere fulfillment of minimum qualification and experience requirements do not
entitle the candidate to be called for an interview. A short listing criterion may
be set higher than the minimum.
The candidate has to attend written test / presentation / interview at his/her
cost. No TA / DA is admissible and will not be paid to the candidate.

Any misleading or wrong information provided may lead to summarily
rejection of application / appointment, if found subsequently. Canvassing in
any form by or on behalf of a candidate will lead to disqualification.
The institute reserves all the rights to fill or not to fill the post(s) advertised.
These appointments being on adhoc basis by the Board of Governors of
COEP, all the decisions related to the services of the selected candidates will
be taken by COEP.
Selected candidates shall have to submit the affidavit and undertaking
regarding no claim to regular faculty positions in College of Engineering Pune
as per the prescribed format on Rs. 100/- stamp paper at the time of joining.
