1. GENERAL
1.1 Scope
This section describes Welding Procedures Repair for all welding works in
field contruction.
1.2 Codes and References

2. PROCEDURES
2.1 Welding found to be unacceptable by QC inspector shall be repaired.
2.2 All repaired welds shall be re-inspected by QC Inspector.
2.3 Only two times repairs shall be permitted on the same area of a given weld
should a third repair become necessary.
3. REPAIR WORKS
3.1 A weld defects to be repaired shall be removed to sound metal, welds repair
shall be made using a same Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) of
production welds, recognizing that the cavity to be repaired may differ in
countour and from the original joint.
3.2 Unacceptable defect shall be removed by chipping, grinding, machining or air-
arc gouging. Where air-arc gouging is used, all carbon, cooper and other
debrid including carburized metal shall be removed by grinding or other
mechanical methods. Oxygen gouging of quenched and tempered stell or
other high strength steel is not permited.
3.3 For partial repairs, the cut-out portion shall be sufficiently deep and long to
remove the defects. At the ends and sides of the cut, there shall be a gradual
taper from the base of the cut to the surface of the weld metal . The width and
profile of the cut shall be provide adequate access for re-welding, see the
sketch below :

3.4 Special care shall be taken to remove weld defect located at root in order to
obtain an acceptable root gap.
3.5 Prior to starting the repair, the repair grooves shall be examined by Dye
Penetrant Test Method.
3.6 Complete repair of weld shall include removal of the weld, beveling of new
edges and re-welding.
3.7 Weld containing cracks shall be cut out .
