Course Information

This course in theatre arts educates students on the impact that theatre has on our world. Students
will learn many aspects of how theatre is produced, from acting to theatre history. It is designed
for students who want to perform and/or pursue a career in theatre. This course will require
participation in two productions, one in the first semester, the other in the second.

Course Goals

By the end of the course, students will:

1.) Have participated in a play and in a musical.

2.) Understand the development of theatre from the Greek Period to Present Day.
3.) Understand various aspects of theatre, such as theatrical set design and lighting.
4.) Appreciate various playwrights throughout history and the play they produced.
Grading Scale

Theatre Arts will follow the standard Monroe County Schools grading scale:

A = 93 - 100

B = 86 - 92

C = 76 - 85

D = 70 - 75

F = 0 - 69

Attendance Policy

Because the majority of classes will be used for rehearsal, attendance is crucial for this course.
Attendance will be factored into the final semester grade for students. If you miss often, it will
affect your grade for this class.

Performance Policy

It is a requirement to be involved in two productions for this course. Therefore, performances are
MANDATORY. If you do not make a performance, it will severely affect your grade. There will
be no appeal to this policy.
