introduction
The following work has as main objective to describe
the different tourist places that our Dominican
Republic has in its different provinces. In this
document we will know the local points most visited
by tourists in each of the provinces, foolish of
national tourists as well as international ones. The
provinces will detail their most striking places and we
will talk about their culture, origin and why it is
touristy.
Zona Norte:
Santiago de los Caballeros
The city of Santiago de los Caballeros is the capital of the province
and is the second most important city in the Dominican Republic.
Monument of the Heroes: of the Restoration This monument built
in the Trujillo dictatorship (called Trujillo Peace Monument) is now a
museum dedicated to the heroes of the Restoration. It is located in
the center of the city, it is an imposing monument (70 meters high),
built on a hill.
The Tobacco Museum: presents tools and photographs that
illustrate the history of the tobacco industry in the Dominican
Republic. During the hearing all the details about the cultivation,
harvesting and processing of tobacco and cigars are explained to
the visitors.
Kaskada Agua Park: This is one of the largest water parks in
the Caribbean is the perfect place to spend a family day. The
park has slides, swimming pools, bars and restaurants. Many
residents of Santiago and its surroundings come to have fun in
this tourist attracti on for the family.
La Vega
The province of La Vega is located in the central part of the
Dominican Republic, approximately 120 kilometers northwest of the
capital city of Santo Domingo. -La Vega Tourist Attractions
Protected areas. For fans of nature and panoramic landscapes, we
have the Ebano Verde and Las Neblinas scientific reserves, the
Baiguate, Armando Bermúdez, José del Carmen Ramírez and Valle
Nuevo national parks, and the Salta de Aguas Blancas natural
monuments in Constanza and the Jimenoa Falls and Baiguate in
Jarabaca
Vega Cathedral: Located just in front of the Central Park of

Santo Cerro: Also known as the Shrine to the Virgen de las
Mercedes, this temple attracts thousands of Catholics from the
country to venerate the Virgen de las Mercedes whose feast is
celebrated every September 24.
- Jarabacoa
the city of eternal spring,one of the best places to find peace and
direct contact with God and nature. Within this: Pico Duarte, el
Mogote, Salto Jimenoa, Salto Biguate.
The Confluence: This freshwater spa is located in Jarabacoa, and
its name is due to the confluence of the Jimenoa and Yaque del
Norte Dominican rivers.
Mogote: the closest peak to Jarabacoa, is a physically challenging
but immersive experience. The three-hour climb will take you to its
peak, located 1,163 meters high, you will walk through thick pine
forests and vegetation, as well as steep slopes of rocky land until
you reach the top. You'll find coffee trees and berry bushes before
finally reaching the last leg and reaching the caretaker's cabin at the

Salto Jimenoa: This tourist destination has two huge waterfalls: one
40 meters high and the other 60 meters high with a natural pool.
To get to these natural wonders, there are two routes. The first is a
descent on an ecological trail surrounded by lush tropical
vegetation. However, the most crowded is the second that borders
the Río Yaque del Norte and crossing hanging bridges.
Salto Baiguate: The charming Baiguate waterfall is a beautiful
waterfall located in a beautiful canyon, and although it is not as
impressive as the Jimenoa waterfalls, it is a beautiful place to spend
a relaxed and refreshing day in Jarabacoa. This waterfall is named
after the river that forms it, the Baiguate River.
Bohíos campo añil: Los Bohios Campo Añil is an ecological rural

Pico Duarte: The climb to Pico Duarte is an adventure that many
foreigners and Dominicans carry out each year to enjoy a trip on foot
or by mule where you can see thousands of pine forests, exotic
birds, cross rivers and streams. It will be an unforgettable
experience.
Constanza
Valle Nuevo
The biodiversity of Valle Nuevo is astonishing: spanning 902 square
kilometers, the park encompasses cloud forests, mountainous plains
and vast alpine grass savannas embraced by rocky mountains, is
home to more than 500 plant species, of which 138 are endemic to
Valle Nuevo, as well as numerous species of amphibians, reptiles,
butterflies and birds. This cold, mountainous, remote and lush
landscape cannot be seen anywhere else in the country, with
endless opportunities to get closer to nature: hiking, horseback
riding or bike rides around the Creole pines and near the peaks
covered in fog. In the middle of this landscape is an eco-lodge, the
only one located within the limits of the Valle Nuevo National Park.
Salto de aguas blancas: Located on a plateau, the Aguas Blancas
waterfall, the tallest in the Caribbean, drops some 83 meters to a
large jade-colored cold pool embraced by terrain covered in tall pine
trees and green ebony trees.
Monte Cristi
Montecristi is one of the most coveted tourist destinations in the
north of the Dominican Republic for its natural attractions, cultural
events and variety of activities. They have extensive angles,
beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters and soft white sands, and
protected areas with striking flora and multiple migratory and
endemic bird species.
Cayo arena: you will find exotic fish, the natural pool, the mangroves
and the incredible beach in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, with
white sands. Located north of the beaches of the Ensenada, Puerto
Plata, it is a small but paradisiacal key, visited daily by tourists from
all over the world.
Numerous species of exotic fish and a beautiful reef are sighted in
its shallow crystal clear Waters.
Punta Rusia Beach: Punta Russia is a beach of pristine natural
conditions located directly next to the Montecristi National Park, a 50
kilometer long coral reef on the spectacular north coast of the
Dominican Republic.
From here you can go by boat to Cayo Arena, there is a lot of
diversity to spend incredible vacations.
Puerto Plata
PUERTOPLATA Puerto Plata "La Novia del Atlántico", is a coastal
province of the Dominican Republic and its capital is called San
Felipe de Puerto Plata, with beautiful Victorian architectural style. It
was founded on June 4, 1867, as Maritime District. Puerto Plata is
one of the main tourist centers of the Dominican Republic, with
tourism being its main economic activity. The whole province is full
of tourist places, beautiful beaches, golf courses, hotel complexes
and resorts located directly on the beaches, it has an international
airport and tourist ports. Puerto Plata is located on the Atlantic
coast, north of the Dominican Republic.

winding trails and pathways, while enjoying majestic scenery.
Playa Dorada: of the most important beaches in Puerto Plata, in the
Dominican Republic, since it has received the blue flag award for
having top quality natural conditions.
Teleférico: The cable car has the function of going up to the
popular hill Isabel de Torres, an elevation south of Puerto Plata
about 800 m high. On the trip you can enjoy and admire the
beautiful views of the city and the coast. Once at the top, the
beautiful botanical gardens that surround the mountain offer the
possibility of taking a pleasant walk. At the top of the hill, an
impressive Christ the Redeemer receives the visitor with his arms
outstretched.
Samaná
Samaná is one of the 31 provinces of the Dominican Republic and is
located in the northeast of the country, completely occupying the
Samana Peninsula. Its capital is the city of Santa Bárbara de
Samaná, Among the best tourist attractions in Samana are the
following places:
Los Haitises National Park: It is an unforgettable tour where we will
contemplate as few in the world. It is a paradiciaco place
Cayo Levantado: It is a beautiful and small portion of land nestled
on the Northeast coast of the Dominican Republic in the Bay of
Samana. It has a vegetation of humid forest, paradisiacal beaches,
white sands and crystalline waters, nestled in a beautiful landscape.
Samaná Bay: It has tourist attractions, such as Rincon Beach near
Las Galeras, Cayo Levantado, a small island in the northeast of the
bay, on its south side the Haitises National Park with Cano Hondo,
the Mangroves from China, the Miches area with its Limon and
Round lagoons, the Round Mountain and the most extensive
beautiful beach area in the country.
Waterfall of El Limón: It is located in the rainforest about 15 km
from Las Terrenas de Samaná. The adventure on horseback and on
foot, lasts almost an hour or more, crossing the forest with a guide
that walks next to the horse, guiding it along the steep path between
stones and mud.
CABARETE
Cabarete is located about 15 minutes from the road east of Sosúa,
on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. This beach town,
located between a bay and a lagoon, enjoys great popularity among
youth and young at heart.
Strong of Felipe Built in 1577 to protect the bay of Puerto Plata is an
iconic icon of this beautiful city. It is located on a hill in the Puntilla
del Malecón, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Ocean World
Ocean World is a center of aquatic amusements in Puerto Plata, to
complement your vacation in this beautiful Atlantic coast, it offers
daily attractions with slides, sea lions, shark bath and dolphin bath
Cayo Arena or Cayo Paraíso
It is a beautiful coral islet located off the coast of Punta Rucia in
Puerto Plata, you can not miss it -27 Puddles Damajagua Located in
Imbert, Puerto Plata. Damajagua is a true wonder of nature, hikers
cross 27 lakes of refreshing water with safety equipment.
Río San Juan
Approximately 120 kilometers northeast of the city of Puerto Plata,
between Río San Juan and Cabrera, this wide beach with golden
sand measures two kilometers and is popular for its good waves for
surfers and strong winter currents, requiring extra care when get into
the water so as not to stray too far from the shore. On the beach,
you'll find a variety of local cabanas serving fresh fish and seafood
while the music plays. Playa Grande's perfect palm trees and golden
sand have made it a favorite among photographers.
Laguna GriGri:
The Grigrí lagoon has a channel of approximately 260 meters that
communicates with the sea and its route is covered with mangroves,
which makes it a beautifully landscaped area rich in biodiversity. It is
located in the city of Río San Juan.
Laguna Dudu:
The Dudú lagoon, located in the municipality of Cabrera, is one of
the main attractions of the María Trinidad Sánchez province that
attracts thousands of visitors every year. It is located on the
Cabrera-Nagua highway near the town of La Entrada. In Dudú there
are two turquoise freshwater lakes. product of the depression of a
cave, a geological phenomenon called cenote.
Zona Este:
PUNTA CANA: Punta Cana is located in the eastern part of the
Dominican Republic. European tourism discovered it some time ago
and currently attracts more American tourists. Within the most tourist
areas or better to visit are the following
Cap Cana: This hidden hiding place is a golfer's dream, with
courses designed by Jack Nicklaus. Thanks to its 5-star hotels,
glorious beaches and an adventure park, you'll have a good time
even if you don't understand golf.

Catalina Island: in the Dominican Republic This is a very popular
tourist destination and a stopping point for most Caribbean cruises.
Catalina Island is the ideal place to sunbathe and relax on its
pristine beaches.
Resort and Club Puntacana: With everything you can imagine
included in a single place and with the fastest connection to the
Punta Cana International Airport, you won't lose a minute before you
start enjoying your vacation.
Macao Beach: One of the best known beaches in Punta Cana. It is
a mandatory place to visit.
Santo Domingo
Colonial Zone:
declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, an area where the
foundations of what was the first city founded by Europeans in
America are concentrated, with numerous colonial buildings,
squares and cobbled streets.
Museum of the Royal Houses: This museum is located in two
palaces built in the 16th century, the first to house the Royal Court,
the first court established in America
National Botanical Garden: Also known as Dr. Rafael María National
Botanical Garden, it corresponds to the main space of contact with
nature in Santo Domingo, with an approximate area of 2 million
square meters
The Three Eyes National Park: This small national park is another of
the best tourist sites in Santo Domingo for activities of contact with
nature, consisting of an ancient underground cavern with four
freshwater lakes, connected to each other.
El malecón
Malecon Santo DomingoThe Malecon is George Washington
Avenue, it is more than 8 kilometers along the Caribbean Sea,
where the most prestigious hotels in Santo Domingo, some
restaurants, bars, clubs and casinos are located. The Malecon is
one of the liveliest streets in the capital.

Altos de chavón.
Sculpted entirely of stone, Altos de Chavón —a model 16th century
Mediterranean village—is a delightful place to tour for its charming
medieval feel, including plenty of shopping, fine dining, and bars.

Pedernales.
Flint Pedernales is a city in the Dominican Republic, located at the
southern tip of the country, 300 kms from Las Américas International
Airport in Santo Domingo. The province shares a border with Haiti
and is washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. This is the least
populated region of the Dominican Republic. -Haitian market -The
malecon This is the sea avenue, where the population of
Pedernales likes to walk.
Bahía de las Águilas: Recognized as the most beautiful beach in
the Dominican Republic and part of the Jaragua National Park, this
stretch of bright white sand stretches for about eight kilometers, with
crystal clear turquoise waters and a spectacular rocky karst
landscape that hugs the beach throughout the entire coast.
Cabo Rojo:
Cabo Rojo remains one of the most popular beaches in the
Dominican Republic, making those who visit it fall in love with its
impressive coastal views. Its turquoise waters are home to some of
the best preserved corals in the Caribbean Sea, providing a perfect
breeding area for West Indian manatees and hawksbill turtles.
Laguna de Oviedo: The largest lagoon in the Dominican Republic,
the Laguna de Oviedo has a salt water level three times higher than
that of the sea. Around the dense mangroves and the 24 keys of the
lagoon, you will find blue and white herons, roseate spoonbills,
western sandpipers and flamingos.
Parque Nacional Jaragua:
Located in the southernmost part of Pedernales, this nature reserve
is one of the most important in the Dominican Republic and is part of
the first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the country. The 1,295
square kilometers of the Jaragua National Park encompass diverse
ecosystems, from sea to land, lagoons and islands, Taino caves, the
beautiful and virgin Bahía de Las Águilas and the isolated Beata and
Alto Velo islands. The flora and fauna of this area are equal in
diversity. The different species that can be seen in the Jaragua
National Park range from manatees to turtles, hawksbill, lute,
loggerhead and green marines, which nest on its beaches.
