Terminal Performance Objectives (TPO)


Demonstration of essential palliative nursing care routine for the elderly by
the use of appropriate and necessary equipment. Interpretation of actions based
on the principles and practice of the hospice. Application of symptoms
management and advance illness prevention by anticipating possible
complications from the present condition of the elderly.

Enabling Objectives (EO)


At the end of 32 hours of RLE, I will be able to:
1. Orient myself with the policies and physical set-up of the clinical area confidently.
2. Build a healthy relationship with the patients or clients as well as the staffs and
personnel of the hospice, clinical instructor and rotation mates.
3. Ensure that the service is delivered flexibly, attentively, and in a non discriminatory
fashion while respecting each clients right to independence, privacy, dignity,
fulfillment and the rights to make informed choices.
4. To ensure that the symptoms management and daily routine of the clients are
handled with respect and as the individual would wish.
5. Come up with a correct nursing diagnosis based on the assessment done
individually on the elderly.
6. Help the clients achieve optimum state of health by facilitating palliative nursing
care.
7. Listen to every stories and complaints expressed by the elderly in a non
discriminatory manner and respond in a professional way.
8. Be self-prepared to any unexpected situations that may arise in the nursing home.
9. Continue evaluating the effect of the care rendered to the individual clients.
10. Impart ideas and carefully answer questions presented by anyone in the clinical
area.
