Exp Operant Conditioning Experiment Orig

The document outlines guidelines for conducting an operant conditioning experiment. It instructs students to choose a subject, identify a target behavior to modify, and state hypotheses and variables. It describes collecting baseline data and developing a conditioning plan using techniques like positive reinforcement. Students are asked to gather data on their subject's responses during conditioning and note any challenges. Finally, they should describe the experiment's progression, their subject's response to conditioning, and analyze results. Supporting theories and citing references in APA format are required. The document provides rubrics to evaluate students' experiment execution, communication skills, persistence, video presentation, and written report.

OPERANT CONDITIONING EXPERIMENT

I. Introduction
 Who is your subject? (Name/Age/Gender/Relationship)
 What behavior do you want to teach/modify? Why?
Example: You would like to teach your 5-year old niece on how to read CVC-
pattern.
You would like to modify the laundry habit of your 12-year old brother.
You want him to learn the habit of putting his dirty clothes in the laundry basket.
You would like to teach your 51-year old father how to play mobile
legend.
 State the following: Hypothesis/ Independent Variable/Dependent Variable
Operational Definition
Example:
Hypothesis: Positive reinforcement improves reading skill of the subject.
Independent Variable: Positive reinforcement
Dependent Variable: Reading Skill
Operational Definition: Positive reinforcement refers to saying “very good”
every time the subject reads the word correctly.
Reading skill refers to reading 30 CVC-pattern words
for 40 minutes.

II. Before Experiment:

 Describe how you will attempt to modify the behavior of your participant.
 What is your operant conditioning plan? (Be specific. What method(s) will you
use? Positive reinforcement, negative punishment...etc.?  Why?)
 Consider the materials to be used and the specific time needed to perform the
experiment, if necessary.
 Support with theories, concept, principles and related studies. Cite your
references in APA Format.

III. During Experiment

 Gather some data related to your participant's behavioral changes. (For example,
how many times did they modify their behavior? How many times did they fail to
modify behavior?)
 What are some challenges you are facing while conducting your experiment?
(For instance - are you experiencing anything that could make your results
invalid, or, are you doubtful that you will succeed in conditioning your participant's
behavior given the time constraint?)
 Provide a chart showing the result of your operant conditioning.
 Support with theories, concept and principles. Cite your references in APA
Format.
IV. After Experiment
 Describe how your experiment progressed and concluded.
 Did you have moments of notable success or failure?
 How did your participant respond to the conditioning process?
 What were the results of your study?
 Support with theories, concept and principles. Cite your references in APA
Format.

A. Guidelines for the performance of the experiment:
1. Ask the subject’s consent in taking picture or video. If your subject is 17years old and
below, ask parent’s consent.
2. The experiment will be done in 10 consecutive days.
3. Have a documentation of every session of your experiment (picture & video taking).
Label it with Day1, Day2, and so on.
4. Have a chart, to record the performance every session.
5. Day 10 will be the final performance of your subject.
6. Submit a 5-10 minutes video presentation. Compress your video from Day1 to
Day10. Be sure that the execution, communication, your persistence and result are
visible in the video. Submission: Day15. Where: To be announced

Semi-final Exam: Rubrics for the Performance of the Experiment

Planning 10
1-3pts = Poor
Execution 10
4-7pts = Acceptable
Communication 10
8-10pts = Excellent
Persistence 10
Video Presentation 10
Total Points 50

B. Guidelines for Writing Experiment Report

1. Answer the guide questions in paragraph form. Make it comprehensive
2. Always support your answer with theories, concept, principles and other related
studies. Cite your references using the APA Format.
3. Font Style: Arial; Font Size: 12; Margin: 1x1 inch; Paper size: Short; Spacing: Single
space for every paragraph
4. Follow the format above.
5. Attach picture from Day 1 to Day 10.
6. Submission: To be announced
