Good Morning,

I am Sachin, welcome you all to the August Discussion meeting.

Guests: Today we have few new guests with us.


I would request our new friends attending the meeting for the first time to introduce themselves.
Our mentor Ikeda Sensei once said: “There is a famous saying from a country along the ancient Silk
Road: “Just as every hill is followed by a dale, a man can overcome any situation.”[i] This, indeed,
captures the spirit of our men’s division members. 

Significant dates of the month:

We called August is the month of Pillars of Soka Gakkai because Aug 24 th is the Soka Gakkai Men’s
Division Day. In 1947 on Aug 14th Daisaku Ikeda met Josei Toda for the first time. Ikeda Sensei also
started writing novel "The New Human Revolution” on Aug 6th, 1993. Also 1 st Aug is BSG
Trailblazer Day.

So I Sachin Manik, a mens division member of Jalyavu District welcomes you once again to this
significant Zadankai.

This month we commemorate August 24 th, Men’s Division Day the most significant day for all of us.
It was one this day in 1947 that SGI President Daisaku Ikeda took up faith, 10 days after his historic
encounter with Toda Sensei. He attended his very first discussions meeting.
Ikeda Sensei writes, “For me, August 24 th is a day when I reaffirm my profound gratitude to Toda
Sensei, my mentor who led me to the practice of faith, and to all my fellow comrades in faith who
have lived out their lives for kosen-rufu together with me. It’s also a day of fresh departure when I
renew my vow together with my closest comrades of the men’s division.
On 24th August : A disciple seeks the way. the day when sensei made a deep commitment to
dedicate his life to follow mentor-disciple path as Toda’s disciple.

The last to arrive at the assembly of the lotus Sū tra was bodhisattva universal worthy. As if to make
up for his lateness, he earnestly vowed to protect the practitioners of the lotus Sū tra in the latter
day of the law. The Buddha rejoiced at his impassioned commitment.

The men division was last to be formed, 15years after women and youth division, but foremost in
commitment. With the formation of this division men division members affirmed together that their
division will serve as the golden pillar of Soka Gakkai, promoting harmony among all divisions and
taking responsibility to support and protect the Soka Gakkai and its members.

Experiences: Experiences are absolute truth which further instills our believe in our practices.
