The correlations between the POs and PSOs are established following an exhaustive procedure
considering all COs and POs. The curriculum of B. Tech (EE) includes Eighty Two (82) courses
of different varieties and modalities of execution such as theory, laboratory, seminars, projects,
grand viva etc. encapsulating basic sciences and humanities, Electrical Engineering core and
electives, and other interdisciplinary subjects. The syllabus for each course is designed so that
course outcome contributes to the attainment of PO’s by different levels. Additionally, syllabus
gaps, if any, are also identified and mitigated by appropriate actions so as to maximize
attainment levels of POs. Different courses take care of its contribution to different PO’s leading
to higher level of attainment of PO’s upon successful completion of all courses and hence the
programme.
For each course, six (06) potential outcomes (statements) are defined in terms of action verbs
following Bloom’s taxonomy to capture the different levels of performance indicators of an
incumbent (graduate). These CO statements are subsequently used and studied meticulously to
map with the POs by different levels. Thus, CO vs PO matrix is developed for one course.
Similar exercises are undertaken to consider all courses [from 1st year, 1st semester courses to 4th
year, 8th semester courses] and finally an overall Rank order correlation matrix [88 x 12] of CO
vs PO is developed for the complete B. Tech (EE) programme. The PSOs of B. Tech (EE) are
derived from the POs and therefore similar process is adopted for developing CO vs PSO
correlation matrix. While POs are more or less atomic in nature, PSOs are comprehensive.
Therefore correlation pattern of PSO differs from that of POs. The following figures depict the
systematic framework to attain the POS and PSOs.
