Course- Management of Financial Services-Term IV-Minor I

Introduction

Indian financial system is composed of the products and services provided by financial
institutions, which includes stock exchanges , banks, insurance companies and many other
organizations that serve to facilitate economic transactions. This course provides an analytical
framework for a range of financial products and services offered by various financial
institutions and agencies such as merchant banking services, credit rating, leasing, factoring,
venture capital financing, securitization etc. Through combining theoretical perspectives with
case studies, the course allows the students to develop critical and contextualized
understanding of the variety of financial services, practical financial service business
situations or cases and the strategic nature of demands within the financial sector.

Scope of the course

The course elaborates upon each component of the Indian financial system. It majorly covers
the services provided by the BFSI sector in India. The regulatory framework within which the
BFSI sector is operating is covered in the course to help in complete understanding of the
course.

Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to impart basic understanding of the way the financial
institutions structure, price, and deliver the services and the issues involved in that. Further,
the course is designed to impart knowledge through an analysis of the functioning of financial
services companies and the related practical business situations. A holistic and better
understanding of the financial services industry helps the students in their employment or in
their business.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:


CO1-Describe the constituents and regulatory framework of Indian Financial System.
CO2-Demonstrate deeper understanding of the various fees based services offered by
financial institutions and intermediaries
CO3- Explain various fund based services offered by financial institutions.
CO4-Summarize various financial services offered by banks, insurance and mutual fund
Companies and their regulatory framework
