Insert the wire, bend the arm in elbow and wrist.
Use 1mm thick wire. In the picture below the small loop is for the wrist,
the big loop is for the shoulder. When sewing the arm, the needle should
go through the big loop.
Bend the wire and wrap with stuffing (padding polyester works best),
wrap with thread as shown in the picture. It’s better to sew the stuffing
to the loops, so that it doesn’t slide when you insert the wire in the arm.
Make sure you use two identical pieces of padding polyester, so that the
arms are the same size. Photo 1: wire carcass, carcass wrapped in
padding polyester and thread. Photo 2: crocheted arm, carcass and
finished arm.
27. ( dec, 2 sc) repeat to the end of the row.
28. dec, to the end of the row, sew the end shut, weave in tail.

Stuff, insert the lower part of a button joint.
Button joint is made with 2 buttons and wire.

Photo 2

You will need a button (2-3 cm) with holes, and about 5cm of wire. Bend
the wire into U shape and insert into button holes. Photo 1.
Insert the button into the body, wire should be sticking out, then decrease,
working around the wire, closing the gap. Photo 2. Leave 6-7 stitches.
Cut off yarn, weave in the end.

Head.
Crochet in a spiral, don’t join rounds, stuff as you go, tight but not
deforming the shape.
1. 6 ch in a circle (6 ch, sl st in the 1st chain). This is the opening for the
joint, connecting the head with the body.
2. Inc 6 (12)
3. (sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
5. (3sc, inc)x6 (30)

9. (7sc, inc)x6 (54)
10. (8sc, inc)x6 (60)
11. (9sc, inc)x6 (66)

9
In Rnd 12 we are moving the increases, so that the head is rounder:
12. 5sc, inc, (10sc, inc)x5, 5sc (72)
13-17. 72sc
In the next rnd, mark the stitch between 4th and 5th decreases, and between 8th
and 9th decreases.
18. (dec, sc)x6, 3sc, (dec, sc)x6, 33sc (60)
19-20. 60sc
As safety eyes have rather thick stems, we will make two openings for them
in Rnd 21.
21 5sc, 4 ch, sc in 9th st of Rnd 20. Marker should be exactly below the
middle of your opening. If not, move the beginning of the row so that it is.
Make the other opening above the second marker. If the opening is too big
for your eye stem, make it smaller, by using less chains. There should be 6-8
sts between the eyes once you put them in.

Attaching the head to the body:

Take the body, with the wire sticking out, pull both ends of the wire
through the opening in the head (the 6 chain we started with), and
through the holes in the button that you place inside the head (Better to
use a bigger button here, so that the head doesn’t lean to the side). Twist
the wire ends together, making sure that the head can be turned with a
little bit of force.

10
Stuff half the head.
If you are using safety eyes, insert them now. If the eyes are with a loop for
sewing, attach them to the finished head.
22-23. 60sc
24. (dec, 8sc)x6 (54)
25-27. 54sc
28. (dec, 7sc)x6 (48)
29-30. 48 sc
31. (dec, 4sc)x8 (40)
32-33. 40sc
34.(dec, 3sc)x8 (32)
35. (dec, 2sc)x8 (24)
36. 24sc
Add more stuffing.
37. (dec, 1sc)x8
38. Decrease until you have 6-8 sts left, cut the yarn, sew the opening, weave
in the end.
If you have eyes with a loop, attach them now. You will be doing
contractions at the same time. You will need 4 strands of yarn 30 cm each,
and a long needle. Fold each strand in half and attach to the loop. Two
strands on each eye.

11
One strand will go up, one down.
Thread the needle with one of the ends, enter your needle through the eye
opening, exit the needle straight down, close to the edge of the button in the
head. Pull out the thread and leave it. Do the same with the other end, exit
your needle with the thread 1st away from the first one. Pull both ends,
making a cheek, tie a knot, hide it inside the head and weave in the ends.
Important: We are using lower ends of each strand, the loop goes in
horizontally.

12
We now have 2 ends left. They go in the opening for the eye and out on the
opposite side of the head, close to the neck. Pull both ends and tie a knot. Do
not pull too hard, or your bunny will be looking up.
Weave in the ends.

13
If you have safety eyes.
Do contractions now, using thread (yarn) and needle: pull the thread from
both corners of the eye to the neck, making cheeks (photo below). Do that
before you glue the eyelashes though, I had to retake the picture, that’s why
my bunny has eyelashes.

If you are doing contractions (needle sculpting) for the first time, here is
how:

You will need a long needle and thread (yarn). Can be acrylic if you are
using it to make the bunny.
Making right cheek.
Thread the needle (you will need about 30cm of thread), tie a knot on one
end.
Attach the thread to the front of the head close to the button edge, hiding the
knot inside the head.
Insert the needle with the thread in the directions shown in the photo below:
first from neck to the inside corner of the eye. Pull, until you get a plump
cheek. Hold the cheek with your fingers, now sew in the opposite direction,
skipping one stitch. Pull more and fix with a knot.
Do not cut the end. Skip 2-3 stitches to the left (hiding the thread inside the
head), fix the thread with a knot. Insert the needle and exit it through the
outer corner of the eye. Pull the thread, sew in the opposite direction,
skipping a stitch. Fix with a knot.
Repeat for the other eye.

30-42. 16sc
Cut the yarn, leaving long tail for sewing.

Face

Sew ears on the head, 1-2 rows above the eyes.

You can use a plastic nose or embroider it with pink thread or yarn.

16
Glue eye lashes like in the photo below.

17
You can make eyelids :
1. 8-10 ch. It should be 2\3 the length of the eye: from outer corner to the
end of the pupil, otherwise the bunny will have a gloomy expression.
Correct the length of the chain trying it on the eye.
2. Sl st, 2sc, 2hdc, 2sc, sl st. The exact number of stitches depends on the
length of your chain.
Glue the eyelashes onto the eyelid, let dry. Place eyelid with lashes on the
eye, find the position you like, and glue it very carefully. The other, smaller
eyelid, is a chain of 6-8. Glue it on the eye.
Use glue that dries fast and clear.

Embroider the mouth, pulling corners to the nose (see photos below):

18
Embroider, or draw, eyebrows.

19
Tail.

2 ch, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook

1. inc 6 (12)
2. (sc, inc)x6 (18)
3. (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
4-6. 24 sc
7. (dec, 2 sc)x6 (18)
8. dec 6 (12) , leave tail for sewing
Stuff lightly. Sew the tail on the body (between 7th and 9th rounds).

Attaching arms and legs to the body:

To do that we will use button joints.

You will need a long needle, non-stretchy strong thread (do NOT use yarn),
and 4 buttons.
The photo below shows how I determine attaching points. Make sure your
bunny can sit comfortably.
Mark the points (you can use marker)

20
Now you need to pull the thread through : button, arm, body, arm, button. Then go
back. Repeat 3-4 times. Secure the thread with a knot, weave in the end.
Do the same with the legs.

Cap
Work in a spiral, do not join rounds
1. 6sc in a magic ring
2. inc 6 (12)
3. (1sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. (2sc, inc)x6 (24)

21
15. (13sc, inc)x6 (90)
Mark 1st, 2nd and 3rd increases in Rnd15 (green, white and black pins in the
photo below).
16-21. inc above markers (3 increases in a row)
22. Move markers into this row. 108 sc
23. 108sc
24-29. dec above markers (3 decreases in a row)
30. 90sc
31. 90sc
32. (13sc, dec)x6 (84)
Try the cap on: it should not be too small, or slide down. If needed, correct
the size by adding or removing rows with decreases (Rnd24-29).
33. 84sc FLO (front loops only).
34-35. 84sc.
Cut off yarn, weave in the end.

Visor is crocheted in rounds, like the sole.

Start with ch 13
1. sc in 2nd ch from hook, 11sc, 3 sc in the last half loop of the chain, keep
working around the chain - 11sc, 3sc in the 1st chain
2. (12sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
3. (13sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
4. (14sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
5. (15sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
6. (16sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
7. (17sc, inc, sc, inc)x2
Fold in half along the initial chain, try it on the cap – if it looks wide enough
for you, keep working straight rounds without increases (4-6 rounds). If you
want it wider, do two more rows with increases, then 2-4 rounds with no
increases.

22
Next round – sl st around the visor.
Do not cut the yarn, continue to attach visor to the cap. (insert hook into the
visor’s stitch, then into the cap’s, and crochet them together).
Finish with a round of sl st along the edge.

23
Try the cap on your bunny.

24
Shorts.
1. 6sc in a magic ring
2. inc 6 (12)
3. (sc, inc)x6 (18)
4. (2sc, inc)x6 (24)
5. (3sc, inc)x6 (30)
This piece should fit between the legs and tail. If it’s too big or too small,
correct the size by adding or removing 1-2 rounds.

6. ch20, skip 5 sc, 10 sc, ch20, skip 5sc, 10 sc.

Make sure that the openings for legs are big enough. If not, add more chains.
7-10. 60sc
Now we will be making an opening for the tail.
Fold the shorts in half to find the middle of the back. Place a marker.
We will be working in turning rows now, leaving 2 sts on either side of the
marker (5 sts altogether)
11-13. ch, 55 sc
14. ch, 55sc, ch 5 above the opening for the tail.
Work in rounds now.
15-16. 60 sc.

25
Divide into two parts, back and front (30sts each), finish separately.
Front:

21. 3sc, dec 12, 3sc
22-24. 18sc. Cut off yarn, weave in the end.
Repeat for the back.
Try the shorts on your bunny to make sure they fit.
Crochet a row of sc around the leg openings.

Straps
Chain of appropriate length.
1. Sc in each ch
2. Sc in each st
Repeat for the second strap. Sew them on the shorts.
Sew on snap fasteners or buttons.
You can also make pockets.
Pocket.
