Australian Wire - Round
This wire is often used in the Begg prescription
and in prescriptions using Edgewise brackets.
This wire is more resilient than standard stainless
steel wires and can be deformed to a higher degree

Charge
before permanent deformation.
It is recommended for all phases of treatment in the
Begg prescription. Also for initial leveling, anchorage
control and the correction of severe overbites.
Due to its special properties, this wire must be handled
with care in order to prevent rupture.
Flexion

Ready-to-Use Positioners
Positioners can be used for finishing an orthodontic
treatment or as an intermediate device between
debonding and a custom-made positioner or a
retention plate.
Three series (with or w/o hooks) corresponding to
the three situations below:
- no extraction
- 2 upper bicuspids extractions
- 4 bicuspids extractions
Three numbers are engraved in the appliance for:
the number of extractions, hook or no hook, and
size.

Using the millimetric ruler, the distance from upper

cuspid distal to upper cuspid distal is measured
(along free ends).
Two digits (in mm, from 40 to 60) are the size of
the positioner.
Example:
no extraction no hook 40 mm = TP0 190 0040
When space closure is needed, select a 1mm
smaller size.
Size in mm is engraved in each positioner in order to
make identification and selection easy.

EverStick® Fiber Reinforcements
everStick® reinforcements are made from silanized
glass fibers embedded in a gel of Bis-GMA and
PMMA resins.
When in contact with dental resins, PMMA partially
dissolves and allows the reinforced composite to
enter in order to create a dual bond: both chemical
and mechanical.
The dual bond between the everStick reinforcement
and the composite ensures a tenacious cohesion
and an exceptional longevity for the restoration.

Easy Handling:
The bundle is soft, formable and sticky.
Easy to cut (no need for special scissors).
No risk of fraying.
Easy cutting and reaming, with a lancet or a burr.
Touching-up and re-building are possible.

Bonding Protocol
• Measure the length of chain you need, either on the plaster cast or directly in the mouth. Pouring a
plaster model is no longer necessary. No need for preparation, retention can be bonded on debonding
day. The chain is easy to cut with a cutter.
• Prepare the teeth in the usual way:
• possibly micro blasting
• etching
• rinsing, drying
• Spread some Orthosolo on the 6 teeth to be bonded.
• Put a spot of Revolution 2 fluid composite on the 6 teeth to be bonded (FYI, Revolution 2 (KE02940094)
is more convenient than Transbond LR, especially for maxillary retentions, as it is flowing more freely
and it is stickier, so the chain will hold better during bonding).
• Position the chain on the 6 anterior teeth. Something very handy with this chain: it holds by itself on
fresh bonding agent, no need for elastics to keep it in place during bonding.
• Adjust the chain in its final position. Once again, it is really easy to position, for it is absolutely not elas-
tic, as it is made from links and will be shaped passively.
• Once the chain is properly positioned, light cure the assembly.
• Should the piece of chain be a little too long, trim it, using a burr or a disk. Then, apply a little bit more
Revolution 2 composite on every spot of bonding, in order to completely cover the chain (as you ap-
plied the composite before and not after as in standard bonding).
• You can possibly increase the comfort for the patient by finish-polishing the composite.

Chapter 3
• The benefit of this chain is physiological: thanks to its links, the teeth keep a minimum of mobility. They
are not frozen in a solid block, like with fiber retentions as Everstick or Construct.
• Last major benefit of this type of retention: it is very resistant, thanks to the links that will absorb strains
in the 3 directions of space.
• Note for maxillary retentions:
• no problem for 2-2 maxillary retentions.
• for 3-3 retentions, when the cuspid cingulum is very prominent, the chain is not always soft
enough to fit the « step » between the lateral and the cuspid.
