G&T In-School Testing
Please read the following essential information prior to presenting your child for the Academic
Selective Entrance Test.
Medical:
The completed Student Health Form must be shown at the Registration desk and taken into the test room by
your child on the day. If your child has a complex and ongoing medical condition which needs to be
considered, please telephone 9264 5199 prior to testing.
Academic Selective Entrance Test:
Information regarding the Academic Selective Entrance Test is provided on the Candidate Information Bulletin.
Sign In on arrival and departure:
Your child can be delivered to school as normal. There is no need for parents to sign their child in or out of
testing which occurs at their current school. It will be your child’s responsibility to report for testing at the
designated time.
Permitted student materials:
Required: lead pencils, blue or black pens, a sharpener and an eraser.
Optional: a drink bottle and a book to read (fiction only) in case your child finishes early.
All other materials including snacks for break times, mobile phones, smart watches and other electronic
equipment must remain in the student’s bag outside the testing room. Mobile phones must be switched off at
all times.
Required Behaviour:
Applicants are required to behave in a considerate and respectful manner and follow all instructions. The
testing follows formal procedures and applicants are advised to keep their eyes on their own work. Talking is
not permitted inside the testing room.
Break time:
The test will take approximately two and a half hours to complete and includes one short break of around 10
minutes. During the break time students must remain in the designated area outside the testing room.
Students will not have a lunch break. Students will not be permitted toilet breaks in the final 5 minutes of each
assessment.
Late arrivals and illness/misadventure:
Students arriving late may not be admitted to the testing room. Admittance of late arrivals is at the discretion of
the test supervisor. Students who are admitted late must complete the tests within the set timeframe and will
not be granted additional time. If your child is ill on the day of the test do not report for testing. Instead,
contact GTSU on 9264 4307 or email
[email protected] within 48 hours of the testing date. A
medical certificate for the day of illness will be required in order to secure your child a place in the catch-up
testing.
Emergencies:
In case of emergency students will be evacuated according to the testing venue evacuation plan. Parents must
be contactable by phone throughout the duration of the test.
