dictated by culture and society?

I believe that gender can be personally discovered and asserted rather than dictated by
culture and society. For instance, when filling out a paperwork such as a work
application or a school registration form, you are frequently asked to include your name,
address, phone number, date of birth and sex or gender. But have you ever been asked
to provide your sex your and gender? As for other people, you could not have been told
that sex and gender are not the same. However, sociologists and most other social
sciences see sex and gender as conceptually distinct. Sex refers to anatomical or
behavioral distinctions between males and females, including both primary sex
characteristics (reproductive system) and secondary characteristics such as height and
muscularity. Gender is a term that refers to the social or cultural differentiation between
being male or female. The sex of a human, as determined by his or her genes, does not
necessarily correlate to his or her gender. The terms sex and gender are also not
synonymous. A baby boy born with male genitalia would be known as a male. However,
as it develops, it can associate with the feminine facets of its society. Although the word
sex applies to biological or physical variations, the features of sex may not change
greatly across different human cultures. For example, all female sex people, in general,
regardless of tradition, will ultimately menstruate and grow breasts that can lactate.
Characteristics of gender, on the other hand, can vary considerably between various
cultures. The dichotomous concept of gender (the idea that one is male or female) is
unique to some societies and is not normative. In some societies, gender is seen as
flexible. These legal concerns show that even human existence, which is meant to be
intrinsic and personal (such as our self-perception and behavior) is simply a socially
determined cultural element. It is a matter of making ethical decisions, as far as genetics
or living experience is concerned.
