                                         Importing parameters via DIA.NE WIN
The Service Technician Instruction ST-156 describes which versions of DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT are mutually
compatible and what risks an incorrect combination, particularly in the case of a parameter import via DIA.NE
WIN, could involve.
AFFECTED ENGINES / SCOPE OF THIS BULLETIN
ST-156 is relevant to all systems equipped with DIA.NE WIN (WIN server). It is important that you always read this
instruction carefully before each parameter import via DIA.NE WIN.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT
Where DIA.NE WIN is used on a system (e.g. for a parameter import), the version of DIA.NE WIN must be compatible
with the version of DIA.NE XT (RPS version) installed on the system. The table below is intended to clarify the required
compatibility.
            DIA.NE XT DIA.NE WIN DIA.NE WIN DIA.NE WIN DIA.NE WIN

                                                                                                                                 Importing parameters via DIA.NE WIN
Staff at Plant Scheduling ensure that the versions of DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT used are mutually compatible and the
system is properly configured when it leaves the factory. If, however, the DIA.NE XT version (RPS version) on an engine
is changed, a new engine is integrated into an existing system with an existing DIA.NE WIN server or a WIN server is
used to import parameters on any system, there is a risk that the DIA.NE WIN/XT configuration will be incompatible.
This gives rise to the danger of an incomplete or incorrect parameter import and potentially serious consequential
damage.
PARAMETER IMPORT VIA DIA.NE WIN IN THE CASE OF AN INCOMPATIBLE DIA.NE WIN/XT CONFIGURATION
This section is intended to show the progress and the consequences of a parameter import via DIA.NE WIN when, for
example, one of the WIN versions 3.2.0, 3.2.1, 3.2.2 (server APC620 Celeron) or 4.2.0, 4.2.1, 4.2.2 (server APC620 Atom)
is used on a system with a DIA.NE XT version (RPS version) from 3.30 (i.e. 3.30 or higher).
NOTE: As can be seen from the table at the beginning of this bulletin, only the DIA.NE WIN servers APC620 Atom with a WIN version from 4.3.0
onwards or APC910 Celeron with a WIN version from 5.5.1 onwards would be permitted in the case of a system with a DIA.NE XT version (RPS
version) from 3.30 onwards.
The system highlights the fact that parameters are missing.

Compatibility between DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT
                                                                                                                                 Importing parameters via DIA.NE WIN
Once again, the system highlights the fact that the parameter import is incomplete.
     Fig. 02: Incomplete parameter import
CAUTION: This parameter import would not only be incomplete, it would also be incorrect. For example,
  DIA.NE WIN versions 3.2.0, 3.2.1, 3.2.2 (server APC620 Celeron) and 4.2.0, 4.2.1, 4.2.2 (server APC620 Atom)
overwrite some parameters of DIA.NE XT versions (RPS versions) from 3.30 (i.e. 3.30 or higher) INCORRECTLY.
The import would for example result in incorrect knock limits and therefore an almost completely inactive
knock monitoring system, giving rise to the danger of serious engine damage. You should therefore never
allow yourself to be misled into thinking that if you manually add those parameters which the system
highlights as missing, the process will be concluded (fully and correctly).
CONCLUSION
A parameter import via DIA.NE WIN is only permitted when the versions of DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT are
mutually compatible as shown in the table at the beginning of this bulletin!!!

DETERMINING THE DIA.NE XT AND DIA.NE WIN VERSIONS/VERSION NUMBERS
The illustration below shows how to check the versions/version numbers of DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT (menu 'System'

                                                                                                           CAUTION: This illustration shows an

Fig. 03: DIA.NE WIN and DIA.NE XT versions used
     NOTE
DIA.NE XT: The deciding factor is the line DIA.NE XT – RPS. An example with XT version 3.3 can be seen above.
DIA.NE WIN: The deciding factor is the line DIA.NE WIN – DEF. An example with WIN version 4.2.2 can be seen above.
The illustration above therefore shows an incompatible DIA.NE WIN/XT configuration. As can be seen from the table at the beginning of this
bulletin, only the DIA.NE WIN servers APC620 Atom with a WIN version from 4.3.0 onwards or APC910 Celeron with a WIN version from 5.5.1
onwards would be permitted in the case of a system with a DIA.NE XT version (RPS version) from 3.30 onwards.
WHAT TO DO WHEN A DIA.NE WIN/XT CONFIGURATION IS INCOMPATIBLE
Before every parameter import via DIA.NE WIN you must ensure that the DIA.NE WIN version used is compatible with
the DIA.NE XT version (RPS version) installed on the system. If necessary, upgrade DIA.NE WIN.
DIA.NE WIN upgrade by GE employee (Jenbach, subsidiaries)
The hard drive on the DIA.NE WIN server can be upgraded from a flash card by an IT Manager (Excellence Centre).
DIA.NE WIN upgrade by NON-GE employee (service providers)
The hard drive on the DIA.NE WIN server has to be replaced.
