Adverbs of manner describe how an action is performed. There are several rules for forming adverbs of manner from adjectives: 1) Add "-ly" to most adjectives. 2) If the adjective ends in "y", replace the "y" with "i" and add "-ly". 3) If the adjective ends in "-le", replace the "e" with "y" and add "-ly". 4) If the adjective ends in "-ic", add "-ally". 5) Some adjectives remain unchanged when used as adverbs.

1. In a large number of the cases, the adverb can be formed by adding “-ly” to the adjective:
