If b is the base and h is the height of a parallelogram, area = b*h
If b1 and b2 are the parallel sides of a trapezoid and height is h, area= (b1+b2)*h
2
Perimeter of a polygon is the sum of the length of the sides.
Cube:
Volume of a cube with side s = s3
Surface area of a cube with side s = 6s2.

Box or Rectangular Solid:

If l is the length, w is the width and h is the height of a box, volume = l*w*h.
Surface area of the box with length l, width w and height h = 2(lw + lh + wh).

Cylinder
Volume of a cylinder with radius r and height h = πr2h
Surface area of a cylinder with radius r and height h = 2πrh+ 2πr2.

Sphere
Volume of a sphere with radius r = 4πr3
Surface area of a sphere with radius r and height h = 4πr2.
Questions
1. In a shower 5 cm of rain water falls on the ground. The volume of water falling on 1.5
hectares of land is ____
Note (1 hectare = 10000 m2)

1 hectare = 10,000 m2

So, Area = (1.5 x 10000) m2 = 15000 m2.

Depth 5 1
m= m.
= 100 20
