A. Getting Started

Good day my dear students!


Today, you will learn the Advanced Excel Tools that will enable you to process
the data you have gathered and graphically presented them for easy reference. It will
help you perform statistical tasks.
Here is a statistical task scenario for you to explore. In a cooking show, there
were two (2) finalists vying for the title “The Great Master Chef”. The organizers of the
show invited five (5) Filipino cuisine experts to judge who deserves the title and they
also invited you to supervise and tally the scores. You are tasked to help determine
the winner by computing the total score based on the weighted criteria. Do this
manually without using any devices. Take note of the time you have consumed in
computing.

and synthesize results.

B. Exploring the Lesson

To begin with the lesson, you need to learn how to apply the
mathematical formulas in MS Excel. There are two types of formula,
simple and complex. A simple formula contains only one operation,
while a complex formula contains one or more operations. To learn more about the
functions and formulas of MS Excel, watch video lesson 2. Microsoft Excel found in
your OTG Flashdrive in the folder Empowerment Technology 11 Week 7.
How can the basic computation help you in real life situation?
Answer: Microsoft Excel formulas that will help you solve complex daily problems.
A lot of people view Microsoft Excel as a tool that's only useful in business. The
key to finding uses of Excel in daily life is picking the right formulas that solve
problems. Uses of Microsoft Excel in daily life is to perform the calculation.
Microsoft Excel is a powerful tool that can help.

Microsoft Excel is called a productivity tool because it will save you time
and make Excel easier to use by adding many new features to Excel. Microsoft
Excel is one of the modern workplace’s most indispensable computer
programs. Accountants use Excel to create ledgers. An Excel spreadsheet is
formatted as a grid of cells, which are organised into numbered columns and
lettered rows. Excel allows for swifter profit calculations and financial
predictions, delivers detailed statistical analyses and thus drastically reduces
the time it takes to put together performance reports. Excel is a productivity
tool that can be very helpful in teaching situation dealing with math and
science. Excel possesses the ability to change numerical data and put it in the
form of a graph in a matter of seconds. This technique allows the teacher to
show the difference in the results of an experiment or survey using a graph or
chart. Microsoft Excel is very helpful and powerful program for data analysis
and documention. In Microsoft excel, a spreadsheet is used to organize data in
rows and columns in a worksheet. Data is stored in cells that are divided in
columns and rows. Microsoft excel is productivity tool because it makes people
more efficient and effective in daily activities. Microsoft Excel is certain to
improve your life at work.

I realized that it is important to know how to use functions and formulas in


Microsoft Excel because a formula is an expression which calculates the value of a
cell. Functions are predefined formulas and are already available in Excel.These are
for calculating numerical information just like calculater. We need to know the two
types of formulas, the simple contains only one direction and complex formula
contains one or more operations. Formulas help you identify relationships between
values in the cells of your spreadsheet, perform mathematical calculations using
those values. A function is a predefined formula that performs calculations using
specific values in a particular order. All spreadsheet programs include common
functions that can be used for quickly finding the sum, average, count, maximum
value, and minimum value for a range of cells. Formulas and functions are the
building blocks of working with numeric data in Excel.
