Dear Comrades,
As the New Year dawns and we step in to the year ahead with hopes and aspirations, it would be
inescapable for us to look into the year that slipped out. A look back of the events that we were part
of bracing the positive outcomes, changing moves incrementally from moment to moment, allowing
for course-correction along the way. As the Officers of eldest member of PCA League among PSBs,
our sweat and toil throughout the year stood amply rewarded by posting the better financials.
The year 2018 proved to be the year of manifold challenges to the Bank officers who were on the
prowl. The year saw the long pending issues on HR front settled satisfactorily and witnessed the
realisation of the dream of Career Progression across all Grades. The pending issues of 2017 Viz.
Spouse Joining Transfers, Compassionate Transfers and Annual Transfer Exercise were also settled to
the maximum satisfaction in Y2K18. The Bank steadfastly adhered to the principles of "People first"
policy and the same ensured good performance of the Bank.
Encouraged by the TEAM-IOB, the Board of the Bank unveiled an ambitious plan of offering
18.24 crore of shares for purchase by the employees. Named, ESPS - 2018 (Employees Stock
Purchase Scheme - 2018), the shares are being offered at a premium but with a discount and the news
has been greeted with enthusiasm by rank and file. Days are not far off when we can proudly proclaim
that not only we owe the Bank but own the Bank.
AIBOC, our paternal Organisation, continued to hold aloft the lofty ideals and had been in the
forefront of the Bank Officers' Trade Union Movement and during the year had been in the vanguard of
many of the struggles. The high point in the struggles had been the withdrawal of the FRDI Bill, the
ill-conceived advertisement of Kalyan Jewellers and obtaining directions through writ petition from
Delhi High Court for nomination of Officer Director in the board of PSBs. The strike call of AIBOC on
21st December 2018 on issues related to salary revision had been a resounding success and
enthusiasm of the Officers of affiliates had been
unprecedented.
Comradely yours,
