Jesus Will Return Skit

Cast: Two youth or puppets

Todd: Did you hear the news about that resurrection a few months ago?

Jeremy: No, what news?

Todd: The news about the strange resurrection?

Jeremy: Oh that, yeah I heard all about that. That place sure looks spooky.

Todd: Not the haunted mansion. The real resurrection about Jesus coming back to life.

Jeremy: You mean CPR?

Todd: Jesus was put in the grave and came out of it.

Jeremy: You’re kidding. When my grandmother died we were all in the hospital room, and she came
back twice after her heart had stopped beating. They had to put her on a respirator. It was really strange
to see it. Just like that. When they took the respirator off her, she died. The doctor said her brain had
little activity.

Todd: I am sorry, that must have been a really hard decision and time for your parents and family.

Jeremy: It was, but when I went to bed that night it felt kind of spooky her gone and all. I know she
when to heaven, so that made me feel better.

Todd: This resurrection was the Jesus who did all those miracles

Jeremy: I could use one. My homework is not completed since I stayed up late watching a movie last
night. I’m in big trouble, and could use a miracle right now.

Todd: It doesn’t work that way. Jesus did miracle to help people like heal the blind, and those who could
not hear.

Jeremy: Awesome! My dad needs hearing aids that we can’t afford. How does he get a miracle ear?
Todd: Sometimes, God provides in ways for us that we cannot imagine when we go to him in prayer
about it. There are times he says “no” and other times “yes”. Sometimes, we have to wait and save up
our money and get what we need. He will help us.

Jeremy: I’ll tell my dad so he can save his money for a miracle ear. Our money jar is empty right now.

Todd: Jesus helps us like he did the people all around him. Then, some of the leaders got jealous of him
and wanted him crucified.

Jeremy: Did anyone call the FBI?

Todd: The leaders were over everyone including people like the FBI. Once a year the people had the
opportunity to release a prisoner.

Jeremy: You mean go scott free?

Todd: It was the custom. The people did not want Jesus to go free, so they let a criminal named
Barabbas go free.

Jeremy: That sucks! My dad said those cops sit on the roadside waiting every day to see if he speeds.
Maybe they should put more people in jail instead.

Todd: They have to make sure our neighborhoods are a safe place and speeders can hit people with
their cars. Anyhow, they took Jesus, and nailed on to a cross.

Jeremy: Than why do people wear them around their necks if Jesus was crucified on a cross?

Todd: Maybe it reminds them of Jesus and why he did it. They may feel his protection.

Jeremy: You mean he let the people nail him to a cross? I’m not going to ask for any pain; I get it anyhow
when I get in trouble at school. My dad gives it to me when I get home.

Todd: Jesus died on the cross to shed his blood that we may be forgiven of our sins upon confession.

Jeremy: That’s interesting.

Todd: He was placed in a grave for three days, and arose from the grave coming right out of the tomb.

Jeremy: You're kidding. Did he smell? When my dog died, we kept him for a week before we could bury
him because we were on vacation. The smell was unimaginable. We found him when we got home.

Todd: I doubt that he stank. But the guards were sure scared. People were frightened and amazed when
they heard the news.

Jeremy: Where did they hear it? We do not get the newspaper, and our radio has not been working.
Todd: News like that will travel wide. The women who came to the tomb found out; then, the disciple
came and found Jesus gone. I am sure the guards went straight to tell the governor. He probably paid
them to keep quiet about it.

Jeremy: Like a million bucks?

Todd: I don’t know, but they would not want news like that to circulate. It would make them look bad.

Jeremy: Where did Jesus go?

Todd: He went and met the disciples in the upper room and ate.

Jeremy: Ghosts eat?

Todd: Jesus did. Thomas, one of his disciples was not there; so, he did not believe the disciples when
they told him Jesus had been there.

Jeremy: I wouldn’t have believed it either. People just don’t come back for the dead. My grandmother is
in the same cemetery she was placed five years ago. We take her flowers every holiday it seems.

Todd: Jesus was the Son of God, and he can do anything. It was all part of God’s plan. God is his Father.

Jeremy: Where is he now?

Todd: Jesus went back to heaven to prepare a place for us so we can go there when we die.

Jeremy: You have to die to go to heaven?

Todd: Yes, you do…..unless you are here when he returns the second time. He is coming again and will
take all those who believe on Him.

Jeremy: Like a parachute. I always wanted to ride in one of those.

Todd: In the twinkling of an eye we will disappear to be with him – just like that (Snaps fingers)

Jeremy: I think I’ll get ready. Should I pack something?

Todd: No, Jesus will have all we need in heaven. He owns everything.

Jeremy: Ok. I’ll get ready, but I could I pray first? I want to be ready when Jesus returns.

Todd: Sure we can do that.
