Alphabet Hunt
Before you use this activity you may wish to print the ABC cards
onto cardstock, laminate and cut out. Print the worksheet you wish
your students to practice. (There are 4 to choose from.)

There are a number of ways in which this simple activity can be

used. Here are a few suggestions.

* Place the ABC cards in a bag or box. Have the students draw a
card form the box, find the matching lowercase letter and color it
with the color indicated by the color of the letter on the card.

* ABC read the room: “Hide” the ABC cards around the room. Have
the students walk around finding the matching uppercase letters
and coloring the letters according the the colors indicated on the
cards. (You may wish to “hide” the appropriate color crayon with
the card to make it easier for the students to color the pictures.)

* Following instructions: (This activity can be done as a Teacher-

led whole class activity.) Each child needs a worksheet and access
to colored crayons. The teacher pulls a card and “reads” it to the
class. E.g. ‘Color the A turquoise.’ (You can easily create your own
instructions here to ‘amp up’ the activity. E.g. ‘Add red stripes to
the B.’ ‘Color the C with yellow spots and the D with green spots.’)

* Use the cards on their own and have the students arrange them
in alphabetical order.
