UMF Unit-Wide Lesson Plan Template: CCSS - ELA-LITERACY - SL.11-12.1.C

This lesson plan is for a 60-minute class discussion on the novel "In the Lake of the Woods" by Tim O'Brien. The objectives are for students to identify themes related to the main characters' relationship. Students will write their thoughts on a small piece of paper after answering a question about the relationship. They will then participate in a 35-minute class discussion, writing possible themes on their paper. The teacher will check for understanding from students attending virtually. A reflection found the discussion successful with most students participating.

Reflection

- This class discussion was a success. It was a topic that all the students were
interested in and wanted to discuss. Out of the eleven students in class all of
them participated at least once. Out of the eight students attending virtually
five of them participated in the discussion as well. Over all I feel as if this
lesson was a great success.
