Introductory project: Why learn a foreign language?
UNIT 1: Bonjour!
Greetings, say your name and ask someone their name.
Ask how someone is and say how you are. Numbers to 20.
Numbers to 20. Ask and say age. Introduction to masculine and feminine nouns and plurals.
Understand simple classroom instructions and build up classroom
vocabulary.
Use a dictionary effectively.
UNIT 2: J’habite ici
Find out about La Rochelle. Use à or en to say “in” for towns and countries.
Say where you live and ask someone where they live. Compass points.
UNIT 3: Chez moi Possessive adjectives: mon, ma, mes, ton, ta, tes, son, sa, ses.

TERM THREE
UNIT 5: Des fêtes et des festivals
Months, key French dates, “name days”. Birthdays. Être: to be.
Clothes and uniform. Plurals of nouns and adjectives, word order.
UNIT 6: Qu’est-ce que tu fais?
Understand and talk about the weather. Seasons.
Numbers to 100.
TERM FOUR
Telephone numbers.
Hobbies and sports. Regular –er verbs (jouer). Negatives.
UNIT 7: Une ville en France
Buildings in a town.
Ask for information at a tourist office.
TERM FIVE
Ask and understand directions. Prepositions: au, à la, à l’, aux.
Say where places are and how far away they are. Aller: to go.
Revision of Units 5-7.
Full assessment (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
UNIT 8: Une journée scolaire
Ask and understand the time.
Understand and talk about a typical day. Present tense reflexive verbs. Manger: to eat, commencer: to begin.
TERM SIX
French school life. Adjectives and adjectival agreement.
School subjects and opinions of subjects. Possessive adjectives: son, sa, ses, notre, nos, votre, vos, leur, leurs.
UNIT 9: Un repas typique
Food and drink. Partitive articles: du, de la, de l’, des (some). Prendre – to take.
Give opinions of food and drink.
Find out about French food and meals. Adjectives.

TERM TWO
