What is a Slot Technician?
Slot technicians are commonly found in casinos and other gaming establishments. They
repair, maintain and install slot machines and see to it that the machines are following
industry regulations. Additionally, a slot technician will oversee the repair of machines by
ordering parts and working with management to provide cost estimates for lager repairs.
Additional responsibilities include keeping detailed records of maintenance and up to
date certifications. Many who hold this position have a background in the technology
industry and possess a keen understanding of computer software and hardware.
Most slot technicians have a high school diploma. However, many larger businesses
require additional education and professional certifications. An ideal candidate for a slot
technician will have a proactive approach to their work and actively seek ways to
improve. Additionally, personal integrity is essential, as the nature of the business
requires trust and accountability.
Qualifications for Slot Technician
Work effectively with casino managers to provide preventative maintenance to all
machines
Experience updating slot machine software and general knowledge of software is
essential
Previous experience monitoring and maintaining an active database of all slot machine
inventory as well as maintenance history and updates
Technical experience in repairing and ordering parts needed to properly maintain all
machines
Ability to accurately provide supervisors with repair assessments and estimates
Strong customer service background as the employee will likely be interacting with
customers when addressing maintenance issues
Technology background preferred in order to troubleshoot common problems with slot
machines
Personal accountability and ability to keep detailed records of machine inventory, updates
and parts
Prior experience in working in the gaming industry or with slot machines is strongly
preferred
Responsible for providing exemplary guest service by performing general maintenance & repair of slot
machines and table games
Essential Functions
Perform repair of slot machines to board level, repair of progressive signs and other
equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on slot machines and Keno
Run the data lines along tight places such as ceiling and main floor using the Scissor Lift or
ladder for accounting and player tracking device
Install and maintain Oasis Accounting and Player Tracking devices
Installs/moves and conversions to slot machines & other equipment
Perform RAM clear and machine configurations to new and faulty machines
Perform bill test and other tests on machines
Repair bill jams with assistance from Security
Perform emergency cash canisters exchanges with the assistance from Security and Cage
department
Perform bench repair to faulty equipment and circuit boards using soldering/de-soldering and
other test equipment in the Tech shop
Provide training to new Technicians and Key Persons
Change table games layout
Replace card shufflers on table games
Assist Drop Team during cash canister drops for slot machine related problems
Assist Gaming Commission and representative from Oregon State Police for monthly
machine audit
Assist Accounting Department in audit, variance reports, hard meter reports and repair of
faulty hard meters
Assist Cage Department, Security and Cage Technician for soft count and kiosk repairs
Update Machine maintenance records
Provides assistance to customers with machine malfunctions and disputes
Provides assistance with jackpot payoffs
Must safeguard entrusted monies, keys and properties
Maintain general appearance and safety of work area on the casino floor and in the Slot Tech
Shop
Performs all duties in accordance with Chinook Winds Casino Resort customer service
standards
Maintains general knowledge and provides information to guests of Chinook Winds Casino
Resort events, programs and services.
Provides input or recommendations for improvements and changes in processes or services.
Inform Slot Lead Technician, Slot Manager and Slot Shift Supervisor of any pertinent
information
All other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED
AA in electronics preferred
Experience
6 months experience as a Floor Technician
2 years Gaming experience preferred
Computer Skills
Microsoft Office beginner level including Word, Excel and Outlook
Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Repair and maintain slot related equipment on the casino floor.
Repair and maintain slot related equipment in the slot shop.
Participate in installation, movement, and removal of slot related equipment.
Maintain proper gaming logs in order to comply with state and or internal regulations.
Ensure an enjoyable gaming experience of guests to by maintaining the gaming equipment at
the top level of proper operation.
Ensure interaction with guests is friendly, cooperative and professional.

Educational Requirements
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Two (2)-year Electronic Degree is preferred or equivalent experience in electrical
maintenance.
Must be able to comply with all state gaming regulations, which may include obtaining a
license.

Casino is over 300,000 square feet and requires ability and energy to move about it with a
true sense of urgency.

Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest
satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
Team Member will work under the direction of the Lead Slot Technician
Responsible for the floor repair and proper preventative maintenance of all slot machines,
including cleaning machines, overhauls, etc.
Responsible for the repair, overhaul, and proper preventative maintenance of all electrical and
mechanical slot machines in accordance with gaming regulations.
Handles the initial set-up and check out of new slot machines.
Assists the Lead Technician in the break down, relocation and reset-up of machines and
stands to be relocated.
Assists Slot Floor Person in verifying jackpots and fills as needed.
Assists in ensuring machine integrity when jackpots occur and at other times requested.
Maintains a working knowledge of company facilities, as well as special events on property, in
order to advise guests and fellow Team Members of same, whenever possible.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner
Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
