MY JOURNEY IN GED103 – READINGS IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

GED103 made me realize how important in our life the Philippine History. At first, I was
hesitant to get this subject because I thought it would be boring and such and I thought that this
subject is not significant to engineering. Yes, it might not be significant to engineering, but I
know it is significant in how we live our lives. It reminds us on how our ancestors fight for the
independence that we are enjoying right now. Recalling our history made me feel nostalgic at the
same time amazed on how the Filipinos in the past were able to live such simple lives. Most
students take these history courses because they are required to do so. This raises the question,
why study history? What is the importance of history to a common being? History is something
that has happened and is factual. By knowing these facts, its students can learn how to progress
and advance not making the same mistakes. Studying history also provides a sense of respect and
pride from its students towards a society. History can also help its students improve many skills
needed for other fields of life. The study of history is very important to a society.

I don’t regret taking this subject because first I gained knowledge and also respect for the
people who made our history something worth it, I also gained new friends and lastly, I met a
professor who has a deep understanding of the subject that’s why I was able to fully understand
everything that was taught to us. Our professor not just taught us the lessons just for the sake of
teaching, but he managed to make me more interested in our history as we go on. I can share
what I learned to my family in the future and, I can share to them the importance of history in
our lives. With that, I can say that My Journey in Ged103 was a success.
