The Format for the Project Report

A. GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS

1. The report shall be computer typed (English- British, Font -Times New Roman, Size-12
point) and printed on A4 size paper.

The report shall be hard bound with Black Hard Binding with golden embossing.
The name of the candidate, degree (specifying the specialization), year of submission,
name the University including college name shall be printed in golden font the cover
[Refer sample sheet (outer cover)]. (Spiral binding and other forms of binding will not
be accepted).

2. The report shall be typed on one side only with double space with a margin 3.5 cm on
the left, 2.5 cm on the top, and 1.25 cm on the right and at bottom.
The theme / topic of the project should be current and based on the latest technology.

3. The length of the report may be about 55 to 80 pages. Students should also submit the
soft copy of report on CD in pdf and word format in the department. Students should also
bring with them the exe file of the project or any other executable file of the running
project for demonstration purposes. They must also bring their laptops along with their
configured softwares for project execution purposes during the viva.

4. The project must be submitted in Two Copies (for a single candidate), 4 copies (for 3
students in a group), 3 copies (for 2 students in a group), duly signed by the Guide.

5. The project should be neatly typed on one side and in A4 size Paper only.
Following typing Instructions should be followed.
i. One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The
general text shall be justified and typed in the Font style ‘Times New
Roman’ and Font size 12.
ii. Subheading shall be typed in the Font style ‘Times New Roman’
and Font size 12 and bold.
iii. Heading shall be typed in the Font style ‘Times New Roman’ and
Font size 14 and bold.

B. COMPONENTS OF A PROJECT REPORT

The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound
Should be as follows:

1. Cover Page & Title page


2. Declaration by the Student
3. Certificate by the Guide
4. Acknowledgment
5. Abstract
4. Table of Contents
5. Chapters
7. Appendices
8. References (if any)

C. PREPARATION FORMAT

1) Cover Page (Title Page): Title, Name of the Candidate (University roll No.),
Name of Guide, Regional center name with University Name (and emblem) and
Place, Month and Year of submission. (Refer Annexure- I)

2) Declaration by the Student: Refer Annexure- II


3) Certificate by the Guide: Refer Annexure-III

4) Acknowledgements: The candidate may thank all those who helped in the
Preparation of project.

5) Abstract (or summary) :of the report should, in one page, include: the purpose
Of the study; the methodology used; and a summary of the major findings,
Conclusions and recommendations.

6) Table of Contents: Refer Annexure-V

7) Main Body of the Project: This is core aspect of your project giving in detail
Your project work. The project may be divided into 3 to 4 Chapters with suitable
Titles, the first Chapter being Introduction and the last being Conclusion.

8) Appendices: Appendices are provided to give supplementary information,


Which is included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme.

 Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix 1, Appendix


II, etc.
 Appendices, Tables and References appearing in appendices should be numbered and
referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters.
 Appendices shall carry the title of the work reported and the same title shall be made
in the contents page also.

9) List of References (if any): The listing of references should be typed 2 spaces
Below the heading “REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left –
Justified. Should be numbered consecutively (in square [] brackets, throughout the text
and should be collected together in the reference list at the end of your report. The
references should be numbered in the order they are used in the text. The name of the
author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details.

A typical illustrative list given below relates to the citation example quoted above.
