Intro
G11S-UDP is based on Fuji inverter type “G11S-EN” but with firmware including parameters
specifics for elevator applications and it can control synchronous and asynchronous motors.
Apart from these changed parameters the inverter is the same as the “G11S-EN”.
For more information about hardware and other parameters look in the FRENIC 5000G11S-EN
INSTRUCTION MANUAL, and in specifications for FRENIC5000G11S-UDP.
This starting guide covers basic information about how to adjust the Fuji “G11S-4UDP” inverter
(400 VAC power supply).
In case you use “G11S-2UDP” inverter (230 VAC power supply), please check with Fuji Electric
for differences.

2. QUICK STARTING COMMISSIONING
Following there is an example parameter list when adjusting a synchronous motor application with Fuji
UDP. Please note this is just an example and next values may not function in your application.

P03 10 A motor rated current
P06 0,10 A motor no-load current
P07 5% fixed value
P08 10% fixed value
o01 22 OPC-G11S-SPG is needed (ENDAT ECN1313)
o03 2048 pulses encoder pulses
o04 2 high speed p gain
o09 2 low speed p gain
After doing this, poletuning procedure must be done:
4
3. POLETUNING
Poletuning may be done with brake closed and with load.
PROCEDURE:
- Please start executing the tuning after the wiring between the inverter, the motor, and the encoder
ends.
- Please turn on the power supply, and confirm it is I/O check and the display P1, Z1, P2 and please
confirm the installation of the PG card and the wiring between the PG card and PG when the displays
is "- p/s".
- Put o04 = 2 (It must be 2 when doing poletuning. After this it may change depending on
application).
- Put o09 = 2 (It must be 2 when doing poletuning. After this it may change depending on
application).
- Put P06 = 0,10 A
- Close output contactors and change P04 to 3 and press FUNC/DATA. The tuning result is set in o53.
- Please execute tuning five times, and confirm the difference of the tuning result (value of o53) of
each time. Please advance to the following procedure when there is a difference within 20 degrees.
Please replace V and W when the difference exceeds 20 degrees. Afterwards, please execute tuning
five times again.
- The forward instruction is given, and rotates in low speed by one rotation or more. The reversal
instruction is similarly given, and rotates in low speed by one rotation or more.
- The power supply is turned off, the power supply is turned on again, and it is confirmed whether a
normal drive is possible. Please check Amps as well.
POLETUNING PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
o53 = 225,50
o53 = 226,60
o53 = 224,50
o53 = 222,30 OK
o53 = 223,50
o53 = 225,50
o53 = 226,60
o53 = 224,50
o53 = 322,30 NO
o53 = 223,50
What do we have to do if shaft What do we have to do if the
movement is not smooth when doing difference between o53 values is
poletuning? greater than 20 degrees?
Change two motor output phases (for instance V for W) and repeat all
the procedure.

4. UNBALANCED LOAD COMPENSATION (UNBL)
Use this function to avoid the "Roll back" effect when the brake is released. The "Roll back" effect is due
to the system has a very reversible machine. i.e.: gearless motor or geared motor with a high efficiency
gear.
The starting torque compensation is selected by function code H09.
UNBL
PARAMETERS DESCRIPTION EXAMPLE VALUE
PARAMETERS
H09 Enable / disable unbalanced load compensation calculation 1
H10 Time for calculation 1 sec
H20 P gain at zero speed 2,5
H21 I time at zero speed 0,003 sec
PROCEDURE:
1. H09 ENABLE/DISABLE UNBALANCED LOAD COMPENSATION (UNBL)
Once the unbalanced load compensation is activated we can proceed now to:
Put F24 = 2 seconds (starting frequency holding time). To clearly separate the procedure to control the
rollback effect and the inverter output frequency stage.
2. H10 TIME FOR CALCULATION
This time is used for inverter to control the motor at zero speed.
After H10 time, H20 and H21 are deactivated and o09 and o05 are effective (low speed gains).
After rollback compensation is done, F24 can be reduced to get inverter output frequency early.
3. H20 P GAIN AT ZERO SPEED
This gain is activated at zero speed during H10 time.
4. H21 I TIME AT ZERO SPEED
This time is activated at zero speed during H10 time.
6
EXAMPLE 1 EXAMPLE 2
Please note that F24 parameter will always "cut" unbalanced load compensation calculation
(UNBL).
EXAMPLE 1
F23 = 0 --- Starting frequency
F24 = 1 --- Starting frequency holding time
H10 = 1,5 --- UNBL calculation time
Even if H10 is 1,5 seconds, UNBL is only applied during the first second (because F24 = 1).
EXAMPLE 2
F23 = 0 --- Starting frequency
F24 = 1 --- Starting frequency holding time
H10 = 0,5 --- UNBL calculation time
In this case UNBL calculation is 0,5.
Finishing H10 time, H20 and H21 are deactivated and o09 and o05 are effective.
Be sure F24 is always higher than H10, other ways UNBL calculation will be "cut", and rollback effect could
not be properly removed.

5. BRAKE CONTROL SIGNAL
Set "39" to function code E20 to E24 to enable Brake control signal 2.
ON condition: According above table.
OFF condition: brake will close either operation command is OFF or:
- The speed command becomes Speed 0 from Speed 1-7
AND
- Speed command continuously becomes Speed 0 during o26 time
AND
- Motor speed is less than stop frequency F25.

6. PI GAINS
G11S UDP has two different P gains and one I gain which can be modified in order to get a better speed
response.
Please note that example values may not function in all applications.

Procedure:
Choose maintenance speed below o07 frequency.
Run the elevator and look the response.
Increase P gain (o09) if an oscillation is felt in the cabin or reduce P gain (o09) when a vibration
is detected.
Normally o05 modification is not needed. Try to reduce or increase it to get a better response if P
gain modification is not enough.
Choose maintenance speed over o08 frequency.
Do the same to get a better response but now with high speed P gain (o04).
Please, modify the Switching frequency parameters o07 and o08 to decide the frequency in which the
inverter will change from Low speed P gain to High speed P gain.
