Our Lady of La Naval de Manila
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
Good morning and mabuhay blessed be God forever.
Today we celebrate and commemorate our Lady of the Holy Rosary of
La Naval de Manila. The Great Lady of the Philippines, Our Lady of the
Most Holy Rosary- La Naval de Manila is a venerated title of the Blessed
Virgin Mary.
The Virgin's intercession under this title helped successfully repulse
invading forces of the Protestant Dutch Republic during the Battles of La
Naval de Manila 1646, in a fashion similar to the Battle of Lepanto of 1571.
Pious believers also credit the Virgin through the icon with maintaining the
Catholic faith in Philippines, which has the religious moniker "El Pueblo
Amante de María" ("The People, or Nation, in Love with Mary"). Pope Pius
X granted the image a Canonical Coronation on 5 October 1907.
In this Eucharistic Celebration, let us ask the intercession of Mary to be
like her who served God without any doubt through her “Fiat”. Let us join
the choir in singing the entrance hymn as we welcome Rev. Fr.

A brief pause for silence follows. Then all recite together the formula of general confession:
I confess to almighty God and to you,
my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
And, striking their breast, they say:
through my fault,
through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
Then they continue:
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Then:
Celebrant: May almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
First Reading
A reading from the Book of Genesis
Genesis 3:9-15,20
But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I
heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the
tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman
you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The
woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” So the Lord God said to
the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.
And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a] and hers;
he will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.”
Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the
living.

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 19:8, 9, 10, 11
R. My heart rejoices in the Lord, my Savior.
As Hannah worshipped the Lord, she said;
“My heart exults in the Lord,
My horn is exalted in my God,
I have swallowed up my enemies;
I rejoice in my victory.
R. My heart rejoices in the Lord, my Savior.
The bows of the mighty are broken,
While the tottering gird on strength.
The well-fed hire themselves out for bread,
While the hungry batten on spoil.
The barren wife bears seven sons,
While the mother of many languishes.
R. My heart rejoices in the Lord, my Savior.
The Lords put to death and gives life;
He casts down to the neither word;
He raises up again.
The Lord makes poor and make rich,
He humbles, he also exaults.
R. My heart rejoices in the Lord, my Savior.
He raises the needy from the dust;
From the ash heap he lifts up the poor,
To seat them with nobles
And make a glorious throne their heritage.
R. My heart rejoices in the Lord, my Savior.

Second Reading
A reading from the letter of Paul to the Galatians
Galatians 4:4-7
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman,
born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive
adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son
into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”So you are no
longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made
you also an heir.

All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL
Celebrant: The Lord be with you
All: And with your spirit
Celebrant: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke.
All: Glory to you O Lord.
Luke 1:26-38
In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to
Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man
named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The
angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The
Lord is with you.”
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of
greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary;
you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son,
and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of
the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,
and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never
end.”
“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
7
Our Lady of La Naval de Manila
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of
the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be
called[a] the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a
child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her
sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be
fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father,
almighty and eternal God, and to praise, bless,
and glorify your name (on the Solemnity of the Motherhood /
on the feast day / on the Nativity / in veneration)
of the Blessed ever-Virgin Mary.
For by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit
she conceived your Only Begotten Son,
and without losing the glory of virginity,
brought forth into the world the eternal Light, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Through him the Angels praise your majesty,
Dominions adore and Powers tremble before you.
Heaven and the Virtues of heaven
and the blessed Seraphim worship together with exultation.
May our voices, we pray, join with theirs in humble praise,
as we acclaim:
The people sing or say aloud:
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
Celebrant: You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,
by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
so that they may become for us
the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion,
he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT:
FOR THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
10
Our Lady of La Naval de Manila
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
In a similar way, when supper was ended,
he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT:
THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL
COVENANT WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE
FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
Celebrant: The mystery of faith.
And the people sing or say:
We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection
until you come again.
Or:
When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup,
we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.
Or:
Save us, Saviour of the world,
for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
Or:
My Lord and my God.
Then the celebrant, with hands extended, says:
Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection, we
offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
C1: Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Benedict XVI our Pope and Diarmuid our Bishop,
his assistant bishops and all the clergy.
C2. Remember also our brothers and sisters
who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
11
Our Lady of La Naval de Manila
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints
who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
The Celebrant takes the chalice and the paten with the host and,
raising both, he sings:
Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours,
for ever and ever.
All: Amen!
THE COMMUNION RITE
The celebrant introduces the Our Father
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Celebrant: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,
graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ
All : For the kingdom, the power and the glory
are yours now and forever.
Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you;
look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your
will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.
12
Our Lady of La Naval de Manila
Passion for truth and Compassion for Humanity
All: Amen.
Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be with you always.
All: And with your spirit.
Celebrant: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
As the consecrated bread is broken the Lamb of God is sung or said:
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Celebrant: Behold the Lamb of God,
behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
Communion hymns begin.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Celebrant: Let us pray.
We pray, O Lord our God,
that, just as we proclaim in this Sacrament
the Death and Resurrection of your Son,
so, being made partakers in his suffering,
we may also merit a share
in his consolation and his glory.
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
All: Amen.
Commentator: At this juncture may I call on the teachers of bellowed
school as they receive a special blessing.
Celebrant: Lord God,
your spirit of wisdom fills the earth
and teaches us your ways.
13
Our Lady of La Naval de Manila

Look upon these teachers.
Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle
patience and endeavour always to bring the truth to eager
minds.

forever and ever.
All: Amen.
(The celebrant sprinkles the teacher with Holy Water.)

of life and love, family and friends. Bless them with your
presence and surround them with your love, that they may enjoy
