EATON-POWERWARE 9390 KVA RECONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS

This procedure will step you through the power reconfiguration process for the Powerware 9390 products.
KVA Upgrade part numbers are:

1. Connect a computer running the XCP Service Software Tool V03.00.00 or newer to the unit’s service
serial port.

2. Click the EEPROM tab and select “Change KVA Rating”.

3. In the box provided, enter the desired KVA “Rating” (Powerware 9390 CTO drawing 110577083).

4. The KVA Reprogramming window will appear requiring the authorization number for the desired KVA
upgrade. Enter the authorization number provided and click on OK.

5. The KVA security program in the UPS will validate the authorization number and automatically update
the KVA and associated settings along with new the CTO number. Once programming is completed you
will receive a pop up stating KVA Reprogramming Complete. If the authorization number is found to be
invalid, a pop up will appear stating an ERROR Reprogramming UPS. A confirmation is provided either
way so that the user knows if the operation was successful or not.

6. To verify the unit has been successfully upgraded go to EEPROM 230 and verify the current setting for
the KVA. Note that the setting in the EEP address will be 10 times the desired KVA. (For example: 800
= 80KVA).

7. After verifying the upgrade was successful cut the UL mark out of the new label. (see example below)
Place the new label over the old one on the unit. Ensure the original UL mark shows through the cut out.
If you do not cut out the UL mark, on the new CTO label, it will result in an agency violation. The unit will
no longer be UL certified and could result in fines.
