INTRODUCTION
On-the-Job Trainings are a part of a college curriculum that aims to train, explore,
orient and develop the students about the work and their future career. On-the-Job
Training or OJT is one method which helps students acquire relevant knowledge and
skills by performing in the actual work setting. OJT is the best training given students to
apply the theories and computations that they have learned from the school, because it is
planned and organized that develop skills and promote productivity in their job. Colleges
and universities require their students to undergo such training which is conducted at the
employee’s work site. OJT will be the primary method to broaden the student’s skills
within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum.
For the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to go
through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipment and
documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee
to learn more about his chosen field of practice applying what he has learned from the
school.
On the other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who
accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides additional manpower for a lesser labor cost
done by a regular employee. Employers can use this internship strategy as a method in
recruiting new employees. Since the trainer or the supervisor can follow the trainee’s
progress, he can gauge based on performance, behavior and attitude if the trainee will
make a good recruit after the completion of his/her internship. OJTs can bring fresh ideas
into the organization. Given the opportunities to speak their minds freely and without
1
fear, they may be able to contribute significantly in brainstorming sessions of research
and eventually help improve the organization’s productivity. While training the interns,
employers are, also, teaching their employees, the process of guiding the trainees which
stretches their patience, develops teaching skills and makes them more sensitive to the
needs and mindset of the younger generation.
2
Significance of the On-the-Job-Training
Increasing incidents of negligence and crimes violating the innocence of children
have raised numerous doubts and questions in the minds of every parent, every
responsible citizen. The need of the hour is to ensure that children are safe all the time.
Vigilance and keeping an eye out for any anomaly or deviation in the child behavior is
something that we can all do to fortify ourselves in this fight. However, we are only
humans and may overlook certain things or may even lower our guard over time. How,
then can we ensure the safety of those children? The answer is CCTV Surveillance
Systems. In the age of technology, this simple weapon is one of the most effective ways
to deter and fight the evils. CCTV surveillance is of great importance, especially in
schools.
Objectives of the On-the-Job-Training
The objectives of On-the-Job-Training (OJT) is directly related to the teaching
learning experiences and help the students to:
1. Acquaint students formally to the real work place environment;
2. Provide the foundation for the students to work efficiently and productively;
3. Make the students appreciate the value and importance of work;
4. Provide opportunities for the students to gain knowledge, skills and values that will
make them better persons and will give them greater chances for employment;
5. Provide opportunities for the students to learn from and network with experienced
professionals;
3
6. Provide opportunities for the students to learn how to handle new challenges and
complex tasks or problems; and
7. Help the students identify future career directions
Time and Place of the On-the-Job Training
The OJT was conducted in Guilmar Enterprises from June 10, 2019 to July 13,
2019 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Organizational Structure
Figure 2. Organizational Chart of Guilmar Enterprises
9
Functions and Responsibilities of the Management
Planning. This step involves mapping out exactly how to achieve a particular
goal. For example, the organization's goal is to improve company sales. The manager
first needs to decide which steps are necessary to accomplish that goal. These steps may
include increasing advertising, inventory, and sales staff. These necessary steps are
developed into a plan. When the plan is in place, the manager can follow it to accomplish
the goal of improving company sales.
Organizing. After a plan is in place, a manager needs to organize the team and
materials according to the plan. Assigning work and granting authority are two important
elements of organizing.
Staffing: After a manager discerns the area's needs, he may decide to beef up his
staffing by recruiting, selecting, training, and developing employees. A manager in a
large organization often works with the company's human resources department to
accomplish this goal.
Leading. A manager needs to do more than just planning, organizing, and staffing
the team to achieve a goal. She must also lead. Leading involves motivating,
communicating, guiding, and encouraging. It requires the manager to coach, assist, and
solve problem with employees.
Controlling. After the other elements are in place, the manager's job is not yet finished.
He needs to continuously check results against goals and take corrective actions
necessary to make sure that the area's plans remain on track.

THE TRAINING EXPERIENCES
Task Performed
Week 1. June 10-15, 2019
On my first week of OJT in Guilmar Enterprises, we had an orientation to know
the rules and regulation, the do’s and don’ts and safety precautions, of our work. After
that we were told to sight and observe the installation of electrical wiring. We were
taught how to make two gang special outlet and how to check the panel board, breaker,
and its wiring connection
Week 2. June 17-22, 2019
On my second week of OJT we continued splicing of two gang special outlets.
After splice, we had trouble shooting of the line wire lightning and convenience outlet.
Week 3. June 24-29, 2019
On the third week of my OJT we transferred and attended another orientation
about CCTV. After we learned how to install, the following materials we’re given like
RJ45, Coaxial cable, and 12V power supply. Then, we installed the CCTV HD camera
then I was sent to a particular agency to install a CCTV HD Camera.
14
Week 4. July 1-6, 2019
On my fourth week of OJT we had a maintenance in Habay II,Bacoor,Cavite and
we fixed the HD Camera, defective videobalun and 12V power supplies. We also
checked the DVR if it has still fuctioning. After we arrived in the training area, we
studied the IP Camera and central power supply. The first thing I learned was IP Camera
Usually, it is fixed to IP address which is the internet cable. Usually it is fixed by IT
technician but I have studied it for advanced knowledge. After I was on the IP camera, I
told I installed Central Power Supply. The central power supply is used in CCTV
cameras for a single supply that powers many CCTV Cameras.
Week 5, July 8-13, 2019
On my last week of OJT we installed a CCTV HD camera in South Learners
School. Then, we headed to Bacoor New Silang II Cooperative to replace their damaged
power supply and replaced one of their defective CCTV HD Cameras.
Observed Strengths and Weaknesses in the Training Area
The strength of the department was it always have tools on specific work because
it is important for the service in building wiring or cctv installation. I observed the
weakness of the department was sometimes we arrived late to the clients because of the
traffic.
15
Insights
I learned a lot in Guilmar Enterprises as an electrician. I learned how to solve line
wires, I also learned how to install various CCTV Cameras such as HD Camera and IP
Camera. I also learned how to trouble shoot an IP Camera, like changing IP Address. I
also learned how to use other tools such as crimper.
Problems Encountered
The problem I encountered was about solving the IP camera because we had done
almost a week to fix it. We bought IP camera and changed the IP address. With all the
new 12V power supplies some cameras work but others did not. So, we changed the
DVR with a new one but still it did not function.
Suggestion for Improvement
I just suggest being a good boss to his staff and some of the tools and equipment
because of the lack of equipment, I would suggest that in the area where we work we
hope all CCTV Camera is organized and not messy for good look and be clean.
I suggested to have a good boss and provide enough tools and equipment. I also
suggested that all CCTV cameras should be organized.
16
SUMMARY
The trainee was assigned at the technical services. He was hired and approved by
Mr. Butch Abrajano for about five weeks of the training in Guilmar Enterprises. He was
assigned to do different works like CCTV Camera installation and electrical works.
Aside from this he worked positively and took responsibility on the things he
handled. He possessed good communication skills, learned how to manage his time, and
stayed focus on his job.
Although, the trainee had a great experience facing the reality and beyond future
inside the company. Lastly he realized working was not that easy.
