1.
THERE WILL BE 1 QUESTION FROM 1-5, 2 QUESTIONS FROM 6-12 AND 2 QUESTIONS
FROM 13-20.
1. Introduce yourself: name, likes & dislikes, your studies, etc. (Unit 1)
My name is Yhanire and I am 19 years old. I love spending time with my friends and I
love to spend rainy days watching movies. What I hate the most are the birds as I have a
great phobia about them. At the moment I am a student of the Spanish degree at the
University of Alicante, but in the future, I would like to travel to Madrid and study
Marketing there. My parents are divorced, so I live in Albatera with my mother, her
partner and my little sister. I have five sisters, although the three older ones live outside.
My father lives in Torrevieja and I see him every two weeks. He has a dog that I love
that is called Westie. He also has a partner and got married. And finally, I will say about
myself that I am a funny, familiar, simple and very well-dressed girl. One of my great
passions is to buy clothes and spend hours sorting my wardrobe by colour.
2. How important is your mobile phone to you? (Unit 1)
I don't usually use my phone much on a daily basis as I take care of my two little
nephews who are 3 and 6 years old. I usually use it when I have to ask my colleagues a
question, when I want to meet a friend or when my mother calls me. I used to make
great use of it before, but when I realized that it could become an addition, I decided to
spend my time on other things, such as reading books or watching movies. I use the
computer much more than the phone, because I use it for everything related to the
university since now most of it is online and above all, to watch movies or series on
Netflix.
3. What kinds of things do your parents like doing? (Unit 2)
It depends on the day. Sometimes they usually go out for dinner or even one of the
things they like best is taking pictures because they are both passionate about
photography. However, many days they stay at home baking, because my father is a
cook and loves to spend many hours in the kitchen. From time to time, they take a little
trip to the village where my mother was born located in Andalucía, but as she is not a
traveler, they have never left the country. They also like to spend a lot of time with their
grandchildren and go to the park with them or just play at home. Like me, they are close
and familiar people and love everything about family and home.
4. Do you like watching reality TV? Why or why not? (Unit 2)
In my house it is normal to watch a lot of reality shows, however, my father and I are
not in favour of them. I think there is a very dismissive side to people and they don't
show themselves as they are. Besides, we also believe that they follow a script so that
people get hooked and the reality show has more audience. It's all fights and dramas,
which in the end is what sells most. Lately at home we don't see so much, since we have
Netflix we prefer to watch series or movies, so thanks to Netflix these realities are no
longer seen at home.
5. What’s your view on ready-made meals? (Unit 2)
As my father is a cook, I have never been in favour of ready-made meals. However, I
have been able to taste them, but still the taste is completely different from home
cooking. In fact, you don't even enjoy the food the same way, as the one that comes
prepared is reheated and loses all its essence. But, looking at it from the point of view of
people who work every day or have a double job, it is a quick and effective method for
when they arrive tired.
6. Have you ever been on a long journey? If so, where? If not, where would you
like to go? (Unit 3)
Yes, I once went with my high school to London and I will never forget this trip, as the
same day we arrived in the city was the day of the terrorist attack in which two people
were killed. We were there for a week and visited the London Eye, several museums
and tasted many restaurants. What I liked best was meeting English people and walking
down London Street. Also, I bought several gifts for my family at the Camden Market.
When I returned to Spain, I spoke so highly of my experience to my brother that he
decided to go there. Nowadays, he has been living there for 3 years and has set up his
own mapping company in Bristol.
7. Have you ever been to a football match? If so, tell me about the last match you
went to. (Unit 3)
I've never been to a football match, although I'd like to because I'm passionate about the
sport. My favourite team is Real Madrid, but I've never visited their stadium, it's
something I have to look forward to. However, I have visited the Barcelona stadium and
the Mestalla stadium, which is in Valencia.
8. What is your best friend like? Describe him/her and give reasons for your
choice. (Unit 4)
My best friend's name is Natalia and we met when we were 7 years old at the tennis
school. Natalia is a very outgoing person who loves to go out. She doesn't like to be at
home at all, she always wants to make plans and have fun. She always knows what to
say when I'm down and that's one of the things I appreciate most. She is a person who
does everything possible to help others. For example, she loves animals and the other
day she worked with a protectionist to save some puppies that were going to be put
down
9. Describe the funniest event that ever happened to you. (Unit 4)
Well, it was relatively recently that something very funny happened to me. I don't know
if you're familiar with the Tik Tok application. The fact is that my sister is vitiated by
the content they publish on this platform. Above all, what she likes to see most is
challenges. Well, the other day she came to my room to tell me that she had seen that if
you put a hanger on your head, your head would turn instantly. I told her that was
impossible and my sister wanted to prove me that it wasn't, so she tried. Suddenly, her
head turned and I couldn't stop laughing because I thought it was a lie. Then I tried it
and it didn't work. So, I think my sister played a joke on me.
10. What are you going to do next week? Describe at least five things. (Unit 5)
Next week I'll be busy finishing up my university notes so that I can start studying. On
the other hand, it's Christmas time so I'll have to help my parents with the shopping and
presents. Tuesday I'll go and get my family's gifts. I bought my sister some slippers, my
mother some face creams and my father a shirt. Wednesday, Christmas Eve, we have to
meet up with the family for lunch, because due to the situation of COVID-19 we have to
be home at 12, so we decided to meet up at midday. And finally, from Friday onwards,
my routine will consist of going to the library every day to prepare for my exams.
11. What kind of house would you like to live in? (Unit 5)
MY dream house must have an outside garden, glass walls, that is, transparent. It should
be situated in the mountains or in a housing estate where people are discreet. I would
also love to have a fountain at the main entrance and a foyer with a marble floor. It
should also have an outdoor swimming pool and a heated one for when the winter
comes. A cinema and a games room will never be out of place. Nor can a room be
missing in case there are guests one day. As far as you can see, I would love my house
to be very big, spacious and luxurious. I've always said that if I won a million euros in
the lottery, I'd use it to recreate my favourite house.
12. What will you do when you finish your university degree? (Unit 6)
When I finish my degree, I don't intend to stop studying. I'm thinking of starting a
career in marketing in Madrid. If possible, I would like to take my C1 in English and
look for a job as a teacher. I don't know exactly what I'll do, but I do know that I'd like
to be independent and move to one of the big cities in Spain, but I don't know which one
yet. I have also thought about the idea of travelling abroad for some time to work there.
One of the destinations I have most in mind lately is Australia. Therefore, I still see this
situation very far away and I am not completely clear about what I will do when I finish
my studies.
13. When you were a child, what did your parents make you do? Were they
protective parents? (Unit 6)
My parents have always been very protective of me and I think this is because my older
brothers and sisters have always been very naughty. Until I was 17, I was forbidden to
take any kind of public transport. Until a couple of years ago, I had to get home at
eleven and if I didn't, I was punished. I have also not been able to sleep over at a friend's
house like any other teenager, because they have never been happy about that. Since I
was very young, they have taught me to cook, to make my bed, to help with the
housework... Despite how protective they have been, I think they have educated me in
the best way they can.
14. If you had a time machine, what would you like to change? (Unit 7)
I have never been in favour of going back in time, because the decisions one makes, one
must face up to. However, if I had a time machine, I would change the relationship I
used to have with my little sister, as in the past we got along very badly and I didn't
understand why. Another thing I would have liked was to spend more time with my
paternal grandparents, as I miss them very much. And finally, what I would also change
are several unpleasant friendships that I made at one point in my life and that I am
grateful for today, because they are not with me
15. Imagine that you would like to live in an environmentally-friendly town /city,
explain the measures you consider necessary to achieve this goal. (Unit 8)
For me the perfect city is one where the environment is taken care of mainly. To do this,
I would teach children from a very young age how to recycle and how important it is. I
would also encourage the use of bicycles and cars that do not release carbon dioxide, so
as not to pollute. At the same time, it would be interesting to avoid the amount of plastic
we use. For example, instead of using plastic toothbrushes, we could buy brushes made
from bamboo. Other actions we can consider to take care of the environment are to use
as much natural light as possible, to reuse the bags from the supermarkets, to eat
ecological fruits and vegetables... All this I believe that would be necessary measures
and that nowadays very few people take into account.
16. Report on a recently published news-item and give your opinion on it. (Unit 9)
I think one of the current topics is the Covid-19. This issue worries and irritates me in
equal parts. In my experience, I have had a hard time with it. Like every year, I have a
sore throat and I called my doctor to prescribe the pills she always sends me. However, I
was only attended to for PCR and then no one would take my calls. On the other hand, I
am quite worried because my parents are people at risk, just like my grandmother. I
always try to take all the precautions I can, but when I see people breaking curfew or
having clandestine parties, I get in a very bad mood. I believe that this situation is
everyone's responsibility and that it is all in our hands whether we get out of the
pandemic or not, we just need the will. In conclusion, I will say that if others have been
able to, we too can put an end to this and return to normality.
17. What does your mum/ dad look like? Describe her/his physical appearance.
(Unit 10)
My mother, like me, is a short person. She's really a brunette, but she decided to dye her
hair blonde, because that's how she says she looks better. She is a strong and brave
person, and she has shown me this many times, but especially when she separated from
my biological father, who was mistreating her. Physically, she has small eyes, just like
her ears. She has always had a lot of complex about her hands, as when she was little
her cot caught fire and she lost 4 fingers on her left hand. To finish I will say that her
eyes are brown, she has long hair and she wears glasses.
18. Are you ready to work abroad? If so, what kind of job would you like to have?
(Unit 11)
Today, one of the things I'd like most is to go and work abroad one summer as a shop
assistant in a clothing shop. When I finish my studies, I'd like to travel to Australia and
London and work in one of those two cities as a secretary for a large well-known brand
or in a multinational. Honestly, I think what strikes me most is the experience I would
live and not the work I would do. Even so, my parents always say that if we carve out a
future for ourselves in Spain, what less than working in the country that has taught you
everything? I understand their point of view, but perhaps for me it is something old and
when the time comes, I will do what my heart decides.
19. Who is your favourite Superhero? Describe his /her superpowers (Unit 12)
Since I was a little girl, I have been a big fan of Superman and it is a film that I watch
many times with my nephews, because they like it too. This superhero has superhuman
strength and great speed. The most striking thing about him is his great ability to cling
to any solid wall thanks to the webs he has due to his arachnid physiology. One of the
things that I like the most is also his speed of reaction and his reflexes. However, my
nephews love his powers as a spider and seeing how he sheds his webs.
20. How would your life have changed if you hadn’t passed the university entrance
exam? (Unit 12)
Before I took the PAU, I wasn't sure which career to choose, so I already had an option
B planned, in case my grade was good enough. If I hadn't passed the exam, I would
have spent my time working anywhere from a shop to a fruit warehouse, as there are
many of them in my village. I would have also taken my driving licence earlier and
spent time on getting my C1 level in Valencia. And, finally, the clearest option I had
was to get into a higher degree of finance or administration, which I don't rule out doing
in the future.
