Wt. % Apparent Conc/Intensity Correction: 1) Weight %

The document summarizes how EDS spectroscopy software extracts the weight percentage and atomic percentage of elements in a sample. It calculates weight percentage by taking the apparent concentration and dividing by an intensity correction factor. Atomic percentage is calculated by taking the weight percentage and dividing by the atomic weight of each element. The sample being analyzed is a (CuO+CeO2) nanocomposite, and the document shows the calculations to convert the measured weight percentages to atomic percentages for oxygen, copper, cerium, and gold in the sample.

EDS spectroscopy Software actually extracts:

1) Weight %

Wt. % = Apparent Conc/Intensity Correction

This is called element % of the element.

2) Atomic %

This is calculated from the measured Wt. % values for each element.

Atomic % = Wt. %/ Atomic weight

Let us first look how the Wt. % gets converted to atomic %

The sample of which this data collected is (CuO+CeO2) nanocomposite
