Quick Reference Guide # 15 Global Survey Limited

Purpose: Carry out an as-built survey on the TPS1100


Product: TPS1100

Notes: This guide provides the steps required to perform a survey on the
instrument. For more detailed explanations, refer to the instrument reference
manual. This guide assumes that control data has been pre-loaded and a Measure
job has been created.

1. Set up the job files


a. Turn on the instrument
b. From the main menu, select F5 (SETUP)
i. Highlight the Measure job field. Press Enter
ii. Highlight the correct Measure job from the list. Press Enter
Note – the measure job is where your observations will be stored
iii. Highlight the Data job field. Press Enter
iv. Highlight the correct Data job from the list. Press Enter
Note – the data job is where your control coordinates are held
Note - the measure job and data job can be the same
2. Orientate the instrument
a. Press F4 (QSET)
b. Enter the instrument station ID and the instrument height
c. Enter the Backsight ID and target height
d. Press DIST
Note - Make sure the Delta Horiz Dist value is close to zero
e. Press REC to store the setup, then CONT
3. Measure points
a. Enter the survey point ID
b. Enter the target height
c. Press F2 (DIST) and then Press F3 (REC)
Note – You could alternatively press F1 (ALL) to measure the distance and record the point
Note – after pressing DIST, you can Press F6 (DISP) to change the display reading to
coordinates if you need to do a quick check on a control point
d. The Point ID increments automatically
e. Return to step 3a to observe more points
4. Check or edit (delete) the points in the job
Note – this is useful before leaving the site to make sure you have correctly collected and stored all the
data, or if you incorrectly stored a point in the job.
a. From the Main Menu, select Measure Job Management
b. Highlight the job and press F3 (EDIT)
c. Press F1 (SEARCH)
d. Use F3 and F4 to scroll through each record in the measure job
Note – Observations are displayed as angles and distances. Control points are displayed as
Northings and Eastings
e. To delete the currently selected point, Press SHIFT F5 (DEL), then F4 (YES)
to confirm the deletion.
f. ESCape to the main menu when complete
