Security information
Siemens provides products and solutions with industrial security functions that support the secure
operation of plants, systems, machines and networks.
In order to protect plants, systems, machines and networks against cyber threats, it is necessary
to implement – and continuously maintain – a holistic, state-of-the-art industrial security concept.
Siemens’ products and solutions constitute one element of such a concept.
Customers are responsible for preventing unauthorized access to their plants, systems, machines
and networks. Such systems, machines and components should only be connected to an
enterprise network or the Internet if and to the extent such a connection is necessary and only
when appropriate security measures (e.g. firewalls and/or network segmentation) are in place.
For additional information on industrial security measures that may be implemented, please visit
https://www.siemens.com/industrialsecurity.
Siemens’ products and solutions undergo continuous development to make them more secure.
Siemens strongly recommends that product updates are applied as soon as they are available
and that the latest product versions are used. Use of product versions that are no longer
supported, and failure to apply the latest updates may increase customer’s exposure to cyber
threats.

1 Introduction

1 Introduction
1.1 Overview
With the integration of the SINAUT project planning in the TIA Portal (from V14
SP1 Upd2), the complete communication configuration takes place in one tool.
The TeleControl portfolio has been expanded with the TIM 1531 IRC, which can be
connected to the central control station as a stand-alone device.
This means that one or more RTUs can be used as substations in existing
TeleControl systems or in new systems with the SINAUT ST7 protocol.
In this application example, an RTU based on SIMATIC S7-1500, a
SIMATIC S7-1200 using the CP 1243-8 IRC and a SIMATIC ET 200SP using the
CP 1542SP-1 IRC are each configured in a new system with TIA Portal.

The following graphic shows the configuration scenario that is implemented in this
example.

2.3 Operation
In the following chapter we will introduce you to the operation of the demo project
as well as the test and diagnostic options provided by the components used. The
prerequisite for operation is that the installation and configuration has taken place
in accordance with chapter 2.1 and 2.2.

2.3.1 Operating WinCC startup screen

The WinCC start screen displays the faceplates with status information for all
TeleControl stations. These faceplates can be generated by SINAUT ST7cc Config
Tool and integrated into a project.
1. Click with the left mouse button on the respective faceplate to open the list with
the details.

Besides the number of existing ST7cc servers and directly connected TIMs,
the status of the TCO (communication module of the ST7cc software) is also
displayed. For more information, refer to the ST7cc Control Center manual
(see link \7\ in the appendix).

• Position 2: Local TIM

The picture-typical shows whether the TIM is reachable (subscriber), the last
general interrogation to the TIM was completed without errors (GR) and the
time on the TIM is OK (clock).
In the detail view, you can manually trigger a general request to the TIM, which
then transmits its most current accounting information. The processing of the
general interrogation can be followed at the GR display as well as in the text
field "GR" in the faceplate.

• Position 3: Station
The picture-typical shows whether the station CPU can be reached
(subscriber), that the last general interrogation to the station was completed
without errors (GR) and that the time in the station is correct (clock).
A general request can also be triggered in the detail view. All data telegrams
possibly still stored there as well as a current process image are then
transferred from the CP in the station.
The other two command options (switching a continuous connection on and
