WORN DIGGING TEETH

Dull or worn digging teeth will not cut or carry
soils out of the trench efficiently, leading to
decreased productivity.

CHAIN ROLLER
Primary wear on a digging chain occurs at
the chain roller. As chain rollers wear, they
begin to resemble an apple core. At this
point, the chain should be replaced to
avoid potential downtime.

WORN CHAIN SIDE BAR

The secondary wear of a digging chain occurs on
side bars. Sliding wear happens over time as the
side bars move along the digging boom.

WORN SPROCKET
Chain and sprockets have the same pitch
dimensions. Changing one without changing the
other will result in a mismatch and lead to
premature wear of the new component.

Digging chain is categorized three ways: by tooth type, tensile strength and pitch. In this catalog, you’ll
find four types of teeth: DuraTooth®, Alligator, Shark®, and a combination. Ditch Witch® chain is available
in tensile strengths of 33,000 up to 225,000 pounds. But pitch is sometimes hard to understand.
