subtracting 5 or by multiplying the difference of the digit by 16 and then adding 3. Find the
number. How many such numbers are there.
9. A chemist has one solution which is 50% acid and a second which is 25% acid. How much of
each should be mixed to make 10 Litres of a 40% acid solution.
10. Draw the graphs of the equations 4 x - y - 8 = 0 and 2 x - 3 y + b = 0. Find the coordinate of
the vertices of the triangle formed by these lines and x-axis. Find the area of the triangle.
11. In the figure PQR is a right triangle right angled at Q and
QS PR . If PQ = 6 cm and PS = 4 cm. Find QS, RS and QR.
12. In PQR, PD QR such that D lies on QR. If PQ = a, PR = b, QD = c and DR = d. Prove
that ( a + b ) ( a - b ) = ( c + d ) ( c - d )
13. In a right angled triangle ABC right angled at C. P and Q are points on the sides CA and CB
respectively which divide these sides in the ratio 1:2. Prove that 9 ( AQ2 + BP2 ) = 13 AB2.
14. In a ABC AB = AC and D is a point on side AC such that BC2 = AC x CD. Prove that BD =
BC.
15. Two isosceles triangles have equal vertical angles and their areas are in the ratio 9:16. Find the
ratio of their corresponding heights.
16. Find K so that x2 + 2x + K is a factor of 2x4 + x3 - 14x2 + 5x + 6. Also find all the zeroes of
the two polynomials.
17. Find the values of a and b so that x4 + x3 + 8 x2 + ax + b is divisible by x2 + 1.
