CHAPTER 5
Findings & Analysis

29
Findings:

There are few observations that I had at the period of my internship program given below:

 Southeast Bank Limited has earned well reputation in the banking sector.
 There is a less scope of Training and Feedback Process for the employees.
 SEBL has insufficient ATM Booth all over the country.
 SEBL Lacks of proper employees performance measurement process.
 They have a very effective job rotation process for their process.
 They have insufficient employees.
 SEBL needs to expand their Bank Branches.
 SEBL follows traditional culture in their organization.

SWOT Analysis:

Strengths: Weakness:
-Well Reputation -Weak Advertisement &
-Market Share Profitability Promotional Activities
-Effective Job Rotation Process -Insuffficient Manpower
-Sound Export & Import -Less Scope of Training &
Operations Feedback Process for the
Employees
-Centralized Decision Making
Process

Opportunity: Threats:
-Expanding of ATM Booth -Improper Performance
-Online Banking Measurement System
-Application of 360 degree -Less Scope of Recreational &
Feedcabk Process for the Motivational Activities
Employees -Traditional Culture
-Expansion of Bank's Branches -Fast Technological
Advancement

Analysis:

Strengths:

1. Within 7 years the bank has a rapidly growth in profit and number of accounts. SEBL
has a strong leadership and sponsorship on their field. There administration is also

30
considered as strength for SEBL. The contributed largely toward the progress and
advancement for the bank.

2. By this time SEBL has already attained highly accumulative growth rate in the
previous years. The number of deposits and loans are also growing quickly and that’s
why market share profitability rising day by day.

3. Job Rotation basically indicates the task or job design method in which the employees
are shifted between two or more job position in a structured way. SEBL’s job rotation
technique is very helpful and effective for their manpower. They perform this task in
a planned and calculated way.

4. Employees serving in the foreign exchange division are very expert and eligible. They
are highly proficient in stirring plenty amount of export and import transaction and
creating a beneficial consumer relationship with valued clients. They abide by the
foreign exchange regulations and procedures very accurately. SEBL ensures its
ultimate devotion so that any accidents do not happen.

Weakness:

1. The productivity of marketing segment of SEBL is less. Their marketing and

promotional campaigns are not effective enough to create a strong image in their
target customer base. They still follow the traditional methods of advertising, such as
newspapers, journals, website etc.

2. The number of employees is not sufficient enough for handling the customers and
sometimes they are also not capable enough to solving client’s problems. Majority of
the rules and practices are not being abided by the executives. The annual
performance appraisal report of the employees is not made properly and thus they
don’t proper feedback of their performance.
3. The available training programs are not sufficient for the employees of SEBL.SEBL
provides traditional training programs for their employees such as, orientation
training, leadership training etc. But with the change of time they have not introduced
the modern types of training like, cross cultural training, IT training etc.

4. At SEBL, all the decisions are taken by the top management, CEO, DMD and board
of the directors. Consequently, because of this type of practice there is only top down
management approach and communication process. The extent of bottom up approach
is very low and the communication scope is also very limited.

31
Opportunity:

1. SEBL has a very limited number of ATM booths available all around the Dhaka city
as well as all over Bangladesh. This also reduces the number of deposit in their banks
because the clients don’t find available ATM booths in case of emergency or need of
money. In this case, SEBL has a wide opportunity of increasing the number of ATM
booths

2. SEBL newly open up online banking but unfortunately they are not conscious of
introducing their clients about online banking. They will have to promote and
advertise the option to the customers. Moreover, the online service user should feel
flexible while receiving the service. This step can assist them to come forward than
the other banks.

3. 360 degree feedback or assessment is basically a process of providing an employee

with remark or comment from all the persons surrounding him. SEBL can also adopt
this method and if any of their employees are less performing SEBL can warn them.
Besides, if the employees are well performing, they can be rewarded.

4. As Southeast Bank has no branches in numerous areas in the nation, they can't work
by and large activities in the economy of the nation. It has only 134 branches all over
the country which is insufficient to provide quality service to the mass target
customers of this industry. Southeast Bank should open more branches to work
increasingly successful activities in the nation. While expanding the branches, SEBL
should also take care that the recruitment process for the employees should be full
proof.

Threats:

1. The performance measurement process for the manpower of any organization should
be able enough to provide the employees with proper direction for the future. They
should use different dimensions such as team building spirit, decision making, skill,
communication skill etc. to measure the performance. Absence of any of these
dimensions in measurement can bring threat for SEBL

2. In most business organization it is known that is an employee is motivated much, his/

her performance will be declining day by day. This is why the organizations spend a
huge amount of money on arranging training sessions and recreational events just to

32
keep the employees motivated. SEBL lacks of such training sessions and recreational
events which can cause a serious harm for them.

3. This is one of the biggest problems in this country. SEBL follows the traditional form
of culture. There is no scope of using modern culture like, matrix, project etc. That’s
why there is an internal clash among the employees to some extent. This might cost
heavily for the organization in the long run. Moreover, traditional culture approach
can cause dissatisfaction and internal conflict among the employees.

4. The leading banks of the country are adopting newer version of banking software to
implement various transactions. In this case, SEBL can face a threat because they
don’t have the advanced and updated technological back up. Employees are using the
software which is time consuming and full of hassle. Moreover, they also lack the
knowledge of using the latest technology.

33
CHAPTER-6
Recommendation &
Conclusion

34
Recommendation:

Southeast Bank is one of the most thriving banks of Bangladesh with wide development
openings the business. This report gave important acumen of knowledge about where
upgrades were important to enhance the nature of service. Southeast Bank with its solid
corporate picture and association quality can effectively use the introduced dependent on the
discoveries. There are some recommendations given from my point of view:

1. A training program or workshop can be arranged to allow the officers know about the
technological changes also the ins and outs of different account opening and deposit
forms. Long time training is mostly needed for the mid and low level employees.
Enormous counseling facility should be available for the employees. Moreover, they
should give more focus to the existing guards, messengers that can develop their
motivation which is much necessary.

2. To get rid of the manpower crisis, SEBL should calculate the manpower demand and
supply available in the organization, assess the requirements of a particular position
then match those the potential candidate. Only after these SEBL should assign that
employee for that particular position. Otherwise, the management along with the
employee will suffer in the long run.

3. Promoting Sector ought to be enhanced and successful. SEBL should seek after a
incursive promoting to come up into spotlight. Campaign so as to develop a solid
picture renown among the potential clients. Campaign, for example, promotion in the
paper and magazine, bulletin, neon signs, attention message. SEBL can explore
promotion Campaign with its clients especially the corporate customers to develop a
solid report. Television advertisement is likewise a famous technique for pulling in
the potential clients

4. SEBL should strengthen the employee retention and satisfaction by arranging

recreational events such as picnic, annual sports function, celebration of different
traditional occasions etc. They can also increase employee motivation by arranging
various types of career oriented training programs.

5. Lastly, to attain the goal, a bank should found and sick to sufficient and customer
friendly policies, practices and procedures for judging the quality of asset and the
similarity of loan provision and reserve. They should also focus on their human
resource department. Because without having a satisfied and dedicated group of
employees, it will be quite impossible to gain a competitive advantage and survive in
the competition in this industry.

35
Conclusion:

In this three-month term internship program at Southeast Bank Ltd. Agargaon branch, As an
intern it was learned numerous parts of present workplace and collected understanding by
working with the skillful officers in the branch. They are extremely useful and condition is
very fully informed regarding current things. This experience will help a ton in the profession
of job market. There are 48 commercial banks with various quantities of branches and the
challenge is high in part of this industry. In this situation, SEBL is playing essential job in
economy of Bangladesh. Most of the clients are pleased as there are no late services and rest
guaranteed their property is in safe hand. SEBL gives easy loan to poorer gatherings of
individuals in provincial regions and with negligible loan cost SMEs are helped by the bank.
The organization is recorded as AA in Bangladesh Bank which is really demonstrating they
are in the correct way. In the event that we take a look at their yearly report of ongoing years,
the number demonstrates the positive edges which imply their development is expanding
each year. Each organization has their disadvantages and as like SEBL has their as well.
There the management must be strengthen and intuitional. There is absence of training
facilities for officers. Organization must support their representatives for higher target
achievement however such things were not seen in Agargaon branch. In spite of these
inadequacies, their prosperity is blossoming inside and out. Inside brief time the bank
demonstrates their prosperity and It is hoped that the bank all achievement thriving in their
field.
