coal 600Kg/boiler pressure 1.2MN/m², steam condition 2.5% wet, calorific value
30MJ/Kg.
Calculate:
a. Boiler efficiency
b. Equivalent evaporation F and A 100C per kg of coal.
c. If an economizer was fitted and feed water heated at 110C by the fuel gases
determine rate of consumption for the same rate of steam production
assuming the boiler efficiency and steam condition remain as before.

Q2.
A boiler receives feedwater at 55°C and delivers 35000kg/h of steam at
2MN/m²at 275°C.The fuel consumption is 3400kg having a calorific value of
35MJ/kg. Calculate:
a. Equivalent evaporation from and at 100°C
b. Efficiency of the boiler
c. Velocity of steam in a 50mm
Q3.1992
A boiler uses 750kg/h of coal of CV 28MJ/Kg and produce 6000kg/h of dry
saturated steam at pressure 1.2MN/m² each kg of fuel burnt produce14.6kg dry
fluid gases at a temperature 420°C.The feed water temp.50°C and the boiler has
air 10°C, take specific heat capacity of fluid 1.005kJ/kg
