BUI HOANG LINH DAN – JENNY .

Is it better to do a job you hate for a high salary or a job you love for a low salary?

Recently, the job market has been extended to give many chances for work

seekers. However, there are appreances of two different ideas that people will take

a job with attractive payment and preferential treatment but not in their favorite list

or they will choose the lower one but it is their passion and they have rights to

follow their dream job. From my perspective, everyone has their own ideal about

fantasty occupations and I believe that it is understanble to encourage people to

find and do jobs that they prefer doing with all strength that not relating to too

much on lost and profits , at least once in a life.

First of all, doing favorite jobs can be one of a treatment for people who have

struggled with pressure, stress and depression of the burden of work in developed

society nowadays. Changing jobs in young people has considered as an emergency

situation because they cannot withstand with the pressure or complaints from

bosses. Then, they choose to drop the recent jobs and follow their passions. For

example, a relating topic on Dan Trí online newspaper shared some experience of

people who have infulence on social media about changing jobs . Thuy Duong , a

food stylist in Vietnam, posted that until she was 25 years old , she could finally do

her favorite job is decorating food for art and advertisement and she prouds what
she gets from her job now . Another reason is that enticing feeling for those jobs

that people thought they are monotonous and low payment like artist or pottery can

help to preserve traditions . For example, paintings are appreciated and we assign

them as valuable heritage of art, nevertheless, most of people think artist which is

paid not much money is a job that wasting time and lots of effort . But from

Tienphong newspaper, Artist Binh Minh sold his creative brainchild on Long Bien

bridge . His works cost more than just 150.000VND – 500.000VND for one piece

of art and he told that this job cannot require too much profit or even has a high

living standard. Although, not many people can actually persist to follow this job

in the flow of living, yet Mr. Minh still keep belief on his job and do it as a way to

preserve artistic tradition.

Finally , the fire of passion in young people is gradually fading . Many young

people have been prevented to carry on what they want and their passional works .

In reality, it is not surprised to see that parents decide majors and jobs for their kids

without asking them . Many Vietnamese parents still hold the thinking that going

to university is the only way to get success and have stable jobs. Vocational school

is not always in list of school aspiration of vietnamese students. Moreover, the job

market happens competions and elimination that no work is stable . For more

evidences, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Huyen Thao , teacher in Tran Dai Nghia high school

for gifted in Ho Chi Minh city answered the interview of Zingnews that she met

some of her students loved to do job like barista or car fixing but their parents
forced them to quit and entered to university. So parents should let youngster live

with their life, choose jobs freely for expanding their knowledge, experience .

In conclusion , most people are working just for earning money and getting

promotion for higher living standard. However , dreams can become jobs if people

are bold to do . Furthermore, parents and society need to understand and encourage

young generation to extend their abilities so that the job requirements can be

provided enough.
